    hi all
as part of the festival this year, there will be a 3 day trip to Feathertop, which will happen SEPT 9,10 11. The idea is that if you're fit, and experienced (at least intermediate) and want to step up your skiing/ riding in the backcountry, then this may be for you.

It's 2 nights camping. While there is no charge for doing the trip, you will need to have your own set up and camping gear. Bookings now open. Thanks to Daniel for leading this one.

Any leads on hire gear for those wanting to try splitboarding as part of the festival? I know there are a couple of places in NSW that offer splitboard hire, but I haven't found any in Vic.

Thanks! More than 30 people are donating their time and skills to run session and tours at the festival. Thanks to everyone for their generosity. And the Hotham community for being so welcoming.

    Only 9 Sleeps!

There is one additional tour being offered on the sunday. Details below.

LOCATION - Razorback Ridge (near Mt Hotham Alpine Resort)

    ABILITY- Intermediate or advanced

FITNESS LEVEL- Be prepared for a big day of touring, descents and climbs.

MEETING POINT - Diamantina Parking Space / Hut (Great Alpine Road) @ 8.30 am for gear checks and safety briefing / trip planning for a 9am start. Please Note - car parking can be limited there, and travel times up from Harrietville can be quite variable (based on traffic and road conditions), so please allow ample time to arrive, prepare, and be ready for the 8.30am start.

TRIP PLAN – This trip is suitable for splitboarders or people on alpine touring or telemark gear. The tour leader is a splitboarder who has Level 5 avalanche training. A key focus of the trip will be to have a focus on backcountry safety and learning the real world skills of safe skiing/ riding in steep terrain.

Our aim is to explore some of the great terrain off the Razorback Ridge. This will involve a tour along the Razorback and runs off the ridge at points that will work for the skills of the group and the conditions on the day. Our expected touring departure and return times are 9am and 3pm.

GEAR NEEDED - Food/Water for the day and appropriate clothing for a full day out in the elements in an exposed alpine environment. Avalanche Safety Gear (beacon, probe, shovel) are required by ALL participants, as well as an understanding of how to use them. If assistance is needed acquiring (buying or renting) this gear, please contact the tour leader or check the gear hire section on the festival website.
