Who doesn't love a clear brisk Autumn dawn....
That sunrise was pretty special @GS
Getting some stronger winds gusts now, with Melbourne Airport gusting over 70km/h.
Yesterday’s remnants of misty mizzle brought some evening colour to the sky.
A chilly morning with a low of a little under 5 overnight. Sunny early morning gave way to a blanket of cloud. Perfect for exploring some parks and gardens of the Dandenongs.
Parks Vic busily maintaining precarious trees throughout the Dandenongs. Sad to see such huge and ancient giants go, but understandable of course.
Coats required today, a wintery chill brushing the smile on my face. Wind gusts created a whooshing symphony through the tall Mountain Ash which protected us from anything stronger than a breeze. Most times the hills blocked the wind completely and all was calm and still.
Last traces of autumn clung stubbornly to a few trees. How’s the serenity
Some haze also clung around the valley looking to Donna Buang, Toolangi and surrounding ranges. Glimpses of blue sky from around lunchtime, then clouds broke up more mid-afternoon for some lovely mild and sunny breaks.
Wind has increased and is gusty at home in the north east outskirts tonight.
Showers rolling through Melbourne now.
Perhaps I should have brought my raincoat for my ride home.
A little breezy but fine and sunny at Lake Eildon.
Intense but short lived shower through here (Richmond) just recently, then some sun and blue sky. Looks like it will be a series of rinse and repeat
St Kilda East now
How's the serenity? Up there for a fish at the moment?
It's dead mate. Saw one boat and a jetski when bringing the barge into shore.
Fishing the pondage tomorrow with the young fella. Heap of carp around Taylor/Bolte Bay and closer to the bakery for a coffee or 3!
A line of showers rolling through the CBD from the WSW.
Doesn't look like any more than a mm or two.
A couple of very light showers here bit nothing really in the gauge. Looks like some more on the way. Definitely cooler.
Typical mid-autumn day on the Lake.
Patches of blue sky and some warmth when the wind dropped. Chilly when overcast conditions were accompanied by the breeze. A few drops of rain in the past hour but not enough to stop us cruising Taylor Bay.
Fishing was not successful, but three hours with the lad enjoying a bit of quiet (non-tech) time is always great.
Thin band of rain, seems to be travelling right over my house.
And it's felt like winter all day. It's crawled to 14C and back on the way down. Not much warmer elsewhere in the city.
Well it’s pleasant down at MiddlePark Beach....feels actually warmish...some filtered sunlight through the clouds.....wind fairly benign.Bay looks pretty flat!
Quite overcast and no signs of sunlight here in Canterbury.
Some light showers on the ride out to Strathewan & St Andrews and back again.
Thanks to Sun moved away to Northern Hemisphere will not burn off any trapped clouds in the SE Australia.
Overcast all day yesterday and today maybe.
Need NWW winds to break it off...
Sunbury is overcast but mild ....there is puffy white clouds above .
Quiet nice out there, washing almost dry. Tomorrow looking cold and showery, BawBaw should see a few cents.
Edit- BawBaw could see 15+cm, looks good!
A fair bit of haze, smoke in the air today.
EC showing 10-15mm tomorrow afternoon, with GFS in the 5-10mm range - for the city.
Definitely a wintery feel for the day.
Rainband with southerly blast now tracking through the southwest of the state.
I expect it to hit Melbourne by 12-1 pm with about 10mm of rain.
Looks like it's just about on Geelong now.
Cold front looks slim and wont last and its not coldest as last blast....
Large High Pressure will move in bring warm weather next week yeah.
Not much rain out that band
Winds on the increase with a few large drops of rain when driving through Blackburn.
Sunrise this morning was nice.
2.3mm here so far from those prefrontal showers. Temps dropped back to 13c.
It’s on the way east!
Pretty ineffectual front.
Short period of rain, but on the whole it's less than 5mm across the city, with not much to come.
4.1mm here Northern burbs of Melbourne. Glad I watered yesterday
Snowing at BB.
Locally some heavier around...just chucked it down stud road rowville
Heaviest rain of the day just now in 3113.
Not the massive downpour than Jane was mooting but glad to take what Huey sends down.
Just got pounded in Chelsea Heights.
Short and sharp though.
That post really needs context
Looking proper wintry out my window here in the CBD. 11.1C and 7mm of rain.
Certainly brewed up since earlier, but it does look to clear mostly in the next hour.
Just checked wunderground, 8c and 15.5mm of rain at home.
On duty this evening, super wet on the roads around the eastern burbs.
Happy if there's not much left in it.
Good Covid weather in Melbourne today.
Is there such a thing? Or just the fact that in such weather, people predominantly stay indoors, meaning respiratory illnesses and viruses, like the Spicy Cough, are more easily transmitted?
Thankfully the Pangolin’s Revenge isn’t in the Victorian community, but I won’t be surprised to see a spike in tests, given we might see more coughing and sneezing about.
yeah doesn’t read that well, does it.
I note Melbourne’s burbs cooled rapidly this afternoon - as per the accompanying pic.
Neighbour had a good sized tree snap just after 1900hrs this evening.
Water-logged and gave up the ghost.
Fortunately no property damage.
SES arrived within the hour and job done!
Surprised to see the totals so high tbh.
Didn't really seem that much.
Was slow going on the roads for a couple of hours, but agree it didn't seem that much.
We had 18mm at home. 5c when I got up this morning. Foggy when I did the primary school run.
Still only 8c now. Fires on and might stay on all day.
Surprisingly, we got close to 20mm from this event (Ivanhoe)
Testing with Youtube as had trouble with Google drive links.
Had 5mm rain so far for April
