Fill this in - have your say: https://engage.vic.gov.au/alpine-resorts-strategic-plan

You're not allowed to whine about anything RMB related at ski resorts unless you complete this I reckon.

I put in a lot of points about repealing the Alpine Resorts Act and disbanding the RMBs.

Would be interesting if they got a lot of feedback like that ;)

Same same; halt to winter visitor subsidising summer/arts/cultural/board member special interest/non winter snowsports initiatives.... focus on core business; focus on operational cost accountability/responsibility.

I put in my idea for a further up the mountain Stirling snowplay/XC skiing base in. Hope they actually heed the suggestions.

I reckon there’s a good spot off the Circuit road where it does a switchback in a valley SE of TBJ. Out of the way, good aspects. I’ll try to crayola a map.

    Done.
    More RMB accountability.
Less red tape for dams, snowmaking, water access, run maintenance, new lift alignments, they are Alpine Resorts not National Parks.
    Stirling for future snowplay.

Also reminded them that despite being a Victorian I've skied 76 of my last 85 days in NSW. Massively cheaper parking and more budget accommodation options easily countered extra fuel costs and travel time.

PS. I'm back, Hero pass this season.

they have published some summaries of survey and workshops. Can't say that it was worth the time I spent reading a couple of them, but if you are interested...
    https://engage.vic.gov.au/alpine-re...-stakeholder-engagement-reports-now-available

I suspect that environmentalists may have been more diligent than skiers in responding to the survey (and yes I know they are not mutually exclusive, just that environment vs development balance doesn't quite ring true. very little discerning between NP and resorts too - or that could be the bias of the authors)

Completely agree - looks like the VNPA or similar got their members motivated to fill in the surveys.

I booked to go to the local one, but my mother had other plans. She booked some medical appointments for herself, so I had to go to Melbourne and take her to various doctors, therefore missing out on the local session.

Yeah, I can see from the Marysville report, that one particular character was there. One who has a (weird) vision of building a gondola from Marysville to Lake Mountain. I don't think anyone else thinks it's a good idea. So I know he was there. Then there's a crazy local greenie who has placed her stamp on it too.

A lift like that would cost $40m, if they can't make the case work from Mirimbah to Mt Buller I doubt that Marysville to LM would even come close!

This guy has been pushing it ever since the fires. It would cut a huge path through the mountains - an ugly scar. He seems to think they'd just drop poles in every here and there with no way to service them.

i can't seeing it being feasible, but LM has more visitors than Buller IIRC. If it went from somewhere closer to LM ticket box it could be more feasible (less unfeasible?) than Mirimbah to Buller.

Wrong thread, but Buller RMB has been re-evaluating the pie-in-the-sky-never-gonna-happen strategic plan and putting in a number of changes that are actually necessary, are affordable and make a lot of sense.

One thing is to set up the Mirimbah park to cope with more car traffic and then run a snowplay shuttle bus on the 8 key weekends of July and August, which I think is a great idea.

I know just how it would work. LM would put a ski hire at the base, and it would be at least an hour's queue to get tickets through their ski hire (given that people currently wait an hour to hire stuff on the mountain). So people would hire everything from that ski hire (meaning only one wait in a queue), and the off-mountain independent ski hires would miss out totally. (I get upset if my customers aren't in and out of my shop in 15 mins.)

was not a serious suggestion but i do commiserate with how big players seem to have increasing advantages.
