Stuck!? ROFL
That's rich coming from WA, at the moment.
Swapsies?
love it. I sat in a car up at Dongara on Thursday and t was about 29 degrees, and the sun shining, and I was getting cooked and all I could think was "oh god I have to put up with this shit for the next 7 months" :(
Yeah don’t take me the wrong way. The freedoms we have here are great (right now). They’ll vanish before long. We are jot

However when that true summer heat hits I may as well be locked down as I’m not leaving the Air conditioning. I don’t do well in the heat. Not just don’t like it - I get quite unwell. So we have settled on chasing snow seasons which keeps me away from the worst of summer for most of the time.

…and judging by Gareth’s post and our many conversations lamenting the Perth heat - I’m not alone.

I’m absolutely loving the wet weather right now!

It's been like that since June. My Mum's not happy.
Yeah, I’ve had 2 separate locals randomly ask me to turn off the rain please as we passed by each other in cafes this week. LOL

This I understand. But then I guess that's why we're all here (on the forum)!

The heat doesnt stop me from doing stuff - I played golf on the day we hit 47 degrees. I just dont find it pleasant, and much prefer the pantomime of dressing up for a cold (and wet) day.

It makes me laugh all these people who rave on about loving hot summers, and then spend the entire time avoiding it in airconditioned dakness avoiding it

Micro systems in Perth are weird. Currently walking home from the station. About 1 hour easy walk. Wombette rang to ask if I wanted a lift because of the strong wind. What wind? Trees are barely moving where I am. 10 minutes later and I hit the wind. Like walking through an invisible door. In the space of about 3 steps it's hit me hard from the side. Incredible. Vertical sheer. Never experienced it quite so strong.

Geezus this was noisy this morning. Non stop lightning, hail (or massive droplet rain). Bit tired today!

Dog was most unimpressed! I was up from 3-5 with her. Some seriously loud bangers!

Kept Wombette awake and Annabelle (our cat) in hiding. Thunder and lightning galore apparently. I didn't hear a thing.

Dry as a bone down south, lots of smoke in the air with everybody trying to make the most of narrow window of good burning off weather.

Seems a wet year in Perth I lived there from end of 04 to 11 and only remember 2005 as being a wet year.

Crazy that Perth has had more rain than places like Bundaberg/Rockhampton/ Yeppoon/ Gladstone

As I understand it, Perth has higher annual rainfall (733mm) than Melbourne (663), Hobart (614) and London (557mm).

Way less rainy days than those other cities, a lot more blue sky days (particularly in winter) ... just when we do get rain, it tends to pour.

Other than summer being a bit vicious (and no high mountains for snow), the weather here rocks.

841mm YTD.

If the IOD doesn't affect SW WA and neither does La Nina, then what climate influences caused a decent year of rainfall for the region? eg Perth.

When I lived in Perth from 2004-2011 it was always so dry with failed seasons and when it rained the showers were rarely heavier than 20mm. May 2005 was the only year i remember some tornado and a 200mm month. I also remember December 2006 I think it was cooler than normal still in the low 20s every day .

The house we lived in built late 90s some person had decided to put paving on the front for the driveway and then concrete paving for the raised garden beds, the concrete between the neighbours , concrete on the other side and paving all around the patio .... so it radiated heat everywhere even on cooler days . Massive windows with no tinting facing east too . We also had only that blow in paper insulation in the ceiling. On the plus side we had evap cooling which was cheap to run . I don't ever remember having to mow the small strip they left of grass in all the time I lived in Perth, it was either brown or dormant even when it was watered 2 times a week..

Neighbours on the other side had bores and always flouted restrictions watering every day or twice a day for 15mins even when bore restrictions came in. No one ever stopped them. Water smelt bad too. Guess they thought they had spent all that money on water and now they had restrictions almost as much as main water users.

I used to live near Cockburn Central . So much built up ness. Lack of trees back then. People had roller shutters on their windows to keep the sun out .

You’ve summarised a number of reasons why I regard the urban wasteland such a dreadful place to live.

Did forget to mention the over abundance of fat people though.

I'm spewing.

Last night the forecast for Christams Day in Perth was 24 degrees, which is perfect.

And today theyve bumped that up to an ugly 34 degrees.
And how good has this week been!! I can handle Perth with this kind of summer weather.

I tell people how much I love snow and they tell me they hat eh cold and just love the hot summer weather, and so I laugh out loud at them when they confess they spend more time avoiding it than actually enjoying it

Refresh the forecast now LOL

Christmas / boxing day planning, "So, do you have refridgerated or evap?"
Forty two freaking degrees forecast now!!!! What the actual hellfire?!
Yesterday it was gonna be ten degrees lower than that!

That’s it!
I’m moving the tables inside, and hibernating in the air conditioning! HIDEOUS!!!

Glad I got out on the skatie today - PB and I did a nice skate into Subi for a post surgical review for me (tick, no need to go back for 5 yrs). Then back into the park with the nieces and nephew. Was getting sticky warm by the time we got home at close to midday. Only gonna get hotter from here

Who the #*## dreamed up the horror show of coming weather for Christmas!!

Already had a torch tear through significant part of the Leeuwin Nat, fire intensity at tall forest stand killing level in some places.

F##*ing December.

Bypassed only by f##*ing November....

Two months that should be alleviated from the calendar & replaced with something civilised like April or May or June or July.

F##*ing dust & f##*ing flies & f##* light like some washed out horror film.

Is this the thread of rage?

Funnily enough I think the majority of West Aussies in this thread would wholeheartedly agree with you.

I think we've done really well for flies so far and last week I sat outside looking for Geminids and didnt experience a mossie for 30 minutes.

However, on christmas and boxing days I will sit in my ski jacket and beanie sulking in protest!!!!

Could be a record breaking heatwave along the south western coastal regions of WA. Some December max temp records may well be broken Xmas day and Boxing Day.
And if the 46c max forecast on Xmas Day eventuates at Jurien Bay ( about half way between Perth and Geraldton ), it would be an all time record at the site with data back to 1969.

Ugly, ugly, numbers. If I told you how much I don't like them, I'd never shut up.
It my fault.
Just a few days ago we were out skating, I had a long sleeve top on (protecting from gravel rash just in case) and I said to PB “if it was temperatures like this all summer long I could actually DO Perth!” Clearly the universe wanted to remind me that Summer in Perth is NOT for me!
