From 994hPa central pressure 11am AEDST to a proposed 954hPa central pressure 11am AEDST this am.
That's potentially a 40mb drop - nearing a double bombing low.

Pretty woooly here over the past 24 hours, feels like the middle of winter again, but great to get a bit of rain. I'm going to take advantage of the cooler temps on the weekend and get in another overnight camping trip before the temps become uncomfortable. Stirling Range was on the cards for a Saturday/Sunday ridge walk, but it's a long drive, and I've been exploring a great little area a bit closer to home.

I reckon we're going to get some thunderstorms? Feels like it.

We've had kids over from the sons school playing water gun fights, jumping in the pool (kiddy) , watching movies in the AC and munging.

Visited our kids in Canning Vale while we had a home open - middle of the day and just evap aircon in their rental. Was surprisingly bearable. But the outside was hot as hades.

we have evaporative and it works well 90% of the time - fortuntaly Perth, and in particular the Canning Vale area isn't know for its humidity. In fact those easterlies rip through like a scorching firestorm

went for a swim in the pool today, for the first time this season.

Outside temp was only around 25 max, versus yesterday's 40+

However, with the solar blanket, our pool water is already at 30 degrees

Some indications of a nasty early season heatwave brewing for inland WA. Lots of temps likely to be in the mid-40s in the Pilbara and even South of there (i.e. Meekatharra) this time next week.

Yeah, the shear lack of cloud looks to be promoting those inland (NW) heat troughs, a lot earlier than usual (Summer).

48 days left of enduring Perth heat...

I really feel for those who are inland.
At least on the coast we benefit from the Freo Doctor most nights.

There's a very good chance that Meekatharra's November high temp record of 42.6c for November will get obliterated on Sunday. Telfer is another one to watch.

It's interesting to note that the waters off NW Australia have warmed up considerably. Hopefully the +ve IOD breaks down quickly...

A very long way from everybody
It works exceptionally well when its hot, we ofter have to turn it down or off because its too cold.
Where it struggles is when its very humid, which as I said, isnt too often
They don't work too well in Freo. We put one in about 5 years ago and hardly use it - whenever it gets really hot these days it seems to be humid. It doesn't help that I'm very sensitive to humidity (or rather, dew point). Last year I capitulated and bought a refrigerated type for the ground floor, which works a treat. Now I need another one for upstairs.

there's definitely pros and cons for both. We're hoping climate change won't create more humidity for us

More expensive agreed - but don't care! I love a cold house :) solar is a good point though we're planning to get it next year, it's a no brainer given how much power we use esepecially with young kids (there's always a kitchen appliance, lighting, washing machine and 23 other things running during the day).

Why do you have to seal yourself in with refridge?

when we're entertaining and such we'll still have doors open (if guests need to ingress / egress the house) ... obviously there's heat gain / cooling losses if you have doors opened (just like any air conditioned business, shopping mall) ... same goes for swampy's, you lose cooling. The only difference is that with swampy's you're actually required to open doors / windows?

I love going to functions / parties where it's nicely AC'd , first thing I notice!

Obviously it's wise to close up doors / windows if its hot as balls outside with no wind, and you've got the house cooled.

I loveee the dry air and hate humidity, but can see it'd be an issue for asthmatics

Not sure what happened , temp on coast was climbing into 30s yesterday, we were on beach from 930am until late arvo but around 11am the temp dropped to 25c and stayed there whole day while anything more than 1km inland hit 40s

then a weird sea fog came rolling in , it was strange to be kayaking in it

Cool change inbounds.
Thank God!

I’ve been hiding out with Netflix and aircon. Really need to start hitting the 2-3hr hikes.

We were a few clicks south of Ledge Point (south of Lano) ... left home aroudn 830am ... temps were climbing even then, got to tracks, was about 35c heading in .. then it just plumetted down to 25c in about 10 minutes flat, meanwhile anything more than a few km from coast continued marching up to 40c+ - haven't seen such a large change before.

Then the sea fog rolled in ... was pretty eerie & cool. Pirates of the Indian Ocean

You reckon sea temp causes the fog? It could be seen coming for around an hour , like a big wall just marching through. Photos don't really show it.

SF is usually associated with cold SST's but there's big anoms there.
Here's the low level cloud making it's way down the coast, as shown via MODIS/Terra Saturday AM.
A combo of super light winds for a 4-6 hour period and extraordinary temp differences IMO.
A localised event, and I imagine not one that would have been predicted.

Only 25ish in Perth, but feels like 35 in the sun. I'm so over summer already. Not sure I'm going to survive till autumn.

Currently mild rage, expecting a top of intense rage by mid season, with a late change to depression by mid January.

A trip to the northern hemisphere is the medicine typically prescribed over the December/January timeframe for that kind of severe ailment. Unfortunately its not on the PBS

You what?!
Mental!!!

Im cleaning house ready for a new 3D scan of the house (like google earth camera but in your home) - the inside with the aircon is fine, but outside doing the windows - sucks!

I think I’ll head to the beach for a beverage with an old school mate, who is off to Japan in a few days, this arvo and talk about where we would rather be!

Scorcher bevvies this week, blizzard bevvies in 3 when I get there. LOL
