Reached 37°C @11am for Cape Leeuwin, before the NW'ly seabreeze adjusted things.
Still 4°C off it's Jan record of 41°C (1968).

Still bonkers, because it's a Cape fronting onto in the Southern Ocean, but alas it is WA.

It’s pretty hideous.

My car was reading 35 at 9am.

Popped into Kmart and bought a blow up kids pool to stick out on the deck under shade for the kids coming to stay for a week. They’re Albany kids - can you imagine? They’ll MELT!
The girls loved the paddle pool!
I stuck my feet in after dinner and again after getting back from the park with the dog and the boy on the skateboard - I think I’m keeping it after they go home and I’ll fill it up in days like this and just lay in it LOL
(First summer in 20yrs we don’t have a house with a pool).

'Orrible sticky night down south, must have been filth in the metro.

Been sleeping outside for last 12 months or so, gave up fighting the mozzies & garden wildlife at 0230, (sleep with hose ready to blast the damn ringtails when I hear them munching in the avocado tree) & took swag inside, ran the aircon at night which is a once a year event (hopefully).

Temp wasted no time getting up this morning. Damn pox of a season summer is.

Looking like a good result for the SW coast, enough to dampen fires.

Fire got going this evening on Mt Duckworth near Yallingup, took off in the easterly wind, emergency warning for Yallingup townsite, fortunately the rain wasn't far off & seems to have slowed it up for now. Working around that area recently, noting that hasn't been a big fire in those parts for a long time, lots of very vulnerable properties.

Vegetation at peak stress last few weeks with relentless wind & a lot of heat, this rain will really give things a reprieve, even if temporary. I'll take 25mm down on the Capes, 50mm + would be an absolute bonus.

Yeah just spotted this, 3hrs old, presuming the hill of diamonds didn't get hit (nor Caves House which would be an effing disaster)

Rainfall heavier & more widespread than a solid winter front. Nice to get our share.

Record Feb rainfall for Cape Naturaliste, came just in time for Yallingup, if the arse that started the fire had done it two days before, might have been a different story.

The constant rain will add up in the catchments, even without a massive storm. I’d much rather get a week like this than a freak 2hr storm that just wets the land but gives no run off every now and again.

*even though I’ll be having to get my kms toward my fundraising walk on the treadmill again today...

Looks like we will get a few days of relief before what is hopefully the last hot blast of summer. Can't wait to see the arse end of the foul weather.

For the snow-loving sandgropers amongst us Monday AM should see snow on Bluff Knoll and parts of the Stirlings, Monday AM.
Posted this a few days ago, and still applicable. Conditions at 1000m look manageable too, with 20-25knots. ;)

Temps still hovering around 7/8C on the coast @9:30am
Cowalellup (303m ASL), West of the Stirlings is currently on +6C.
No skew-T for Albany this morning, but these sorts of temps put FL ~1100m.
