Hi,

I have following the discussions here and trying to improve my own forecasting skills. I used to just look at the BoM forecasts and synoptic charts, however lurking on the weather forum I have been introduced to COLA charts and also the different weather services.

I'm wondering what sources people use when they say things like "the latest ACCESS run has a moisture downgrade IMO". The ski.com.au weather page shows GFS charts, and weatherzone shows ACCESS charts.

Where are the best places to find the latest charts and output from the weather models? Do you need subscriptions to use them? I think it would be a good idea if we could have a sticky post or wiki article with links to the best free weather prediction services.

Weatherzone is the easiest place to see the Big 3 all together - GFS (referred too as US), ECMWF (EC) & ACCESS. You will need a subscription (Weatherzone Silver) to see EC and long range GFS - but Weatherzone give you a 30 Day free trial when you sign up. Each model is run every 6 hours but Weatherzone is only updates every 12 hours. (3am, 3pm)

You can grab "raw" model runs for EC here: (4 times daily update. 3am, 9am, 3pm, 9pm)

http://www.ecmwf.int/products/forecasts/...s!2010072612!!/

and GFS here (4 times daily update 3am, 9am, 3pm, 9pm).

afaict has provided a good starting point.

There's a few links to other models here

US Navy has GFS and NOGAPS (every 6 hours)

Of course we should give this one a plug too - for current weather!
