Well, the season is almost over (for those of us dependant upon lifts, anyway) but it may be appropriate to pause and consider the sterling efforts of the weather forum regulars who have put in a huge amount of their own time to provide us with some great predictions and juicy info. A big thank you to @POW_hungry, @Jellybeans1000, @Kletterer, @Donzah, and many others for their time and patience. And of course, a special mention to @Claude Cat for his excellent moderation. Remember folks, STAY ON TOPIC!

It's been a great winter season, and well done to all who participated in the winter threads, and mostly behaving!
Great to see @POW_hungry , @Jellybeans1000 , @Kletterer and others all stepping up and predicting the big systems.

A similar sentiment to everyone else, everyone on here posts without any other reason than passion and for that I am thankful. From the tireless forecasting to the amazing photos and obs, it is all hugely appreciated.

Thanks @Lady Penelope and @Claude Cat for that, it really was a pleasure to be a small part of the larger collective.

Thanks again to @POW_hungry, another solid season from him, @Kletterer with those vorticity plots, and @Donzah as well. What a great season that we have had, deep powder to deep corn. Thanks to all of the observations from people across the forum and resorts. And to all those who chipped in a chart on the predictions thread, asked a question, etc. And let's hope for another great season next year. But even if it's not, we will all still be here next year to do it all again.

Cheers to all for a season well done

Many thanks for the gratitude folks. Its been an interesting season. Working on a common goal with the likes of @POW_hungry , @Jellybeans1000 , @Donzah , @Claude Cat has been quite a satisfying endeavour. Effective moderation and a respectful level of repartee among posters has kept things pleasant. Much thanks to those providing access to some great weather models/ plots. Thankyou to Alicia M Bentley, University of Wyoming and Dept of Atmospheric Sciences Albany for their kind assistance.

    Hey all,
Thanks for all your support this year! My forecasting was on point this year! It wouldn’t be possible without you all!
In terms of who was most accurate, my predications outweighed Powhungry, JellyBeans1000 and Kletterer. I knew when to ignore the EC and GFS charts and did just that. You all have a lot to learn! Donzah was terrible, can’t predict. See you all next year!

Thanks @Lady Penelope for starting this thread and huge thanks to the main players including @POW_hungry @Jellybeans1000 @Claude Cat @Donzah @Kletterer and quite A few others:emoji_clap::emoji_beers:

There was not a day through the season where I didn’t consult this weather section, poring over the comments, plotting and planning my trips with so much appreciation to you all. I don’t understand much of the language, abbreviations and acronyms, I couldn’t predict the weather from the charts if my cherished pair of skis’ life depended on it, but I DO know it’s all about the vibe!

I really enjoyed posting my obs and photos when I was up skiing. Thanks so much to all those who did similar. It makes us envious when we’re not there, but at the same time it feeds the stoke. Here’s to 2019:thumbs:

Ditto most of the above. Big thanks to all of the regular forecasters on here. I learnt a hell of a lot from reading this forum again this year and enjoyed trying to understand the various nuances of all the different systems. Has been an awesome season at Buller helped by top to bottom snow for such a long period. And I still remember getting some gentle mocking 12 months ago when I said we were switching to Buller from Falls/Hotham for this year... Probably fair to say we got lucky!

    Have a great off-season everyone. :)
