Trialing a new snow making system for next year? Been making snow for the last few days with temps well above zero.
They're making snow for snow-play and snow-dogs on the weekend. They have the Yeti which can make snow/shaved ice well above zero. So good! I actually really like skiing on it too, it's different but still flowy and nice Corin had a longer ski season than Thredbo this year!
I think that's the one they purchased from Lake Mountain, when LM upgraded to the snow factory. (But that's not the yeti in the pic above)
I thought it was just a big tube from the Yeti, which is actually in a big building further down slope (to the right off camera)
I think the Yeti just blurts it out onto the ground from a big tube (like a regurgitation). To have it spraying in the air like that suggests not a Yeti. Although it could be a combination there - the Yeti's hose with an actual snow maker.
Yes, they have a yeti. But what I was saying is that the gun blowing it into the air on the opening pic of this thread is not the yeti. The fat hose in that photo is quite possibly the yeti hose, but because the yeti makes shaved ice, it doesn't blow it into the air like that pic. It spits it, because flakes of ice are heavier than snowflakes. (I've seen the Yeti at work many times)
Makes sense. Now I want to call them and ask them exactly what their configuration was to make snow for this weekend
My daughter and I did a sneaky trip up to Corin this morning about 7:15am to play in the snow before heading to Corin dam for the views. Can confirm they were def making snow about that time, not to mention ready to get smashed with all the crowds from Canberra coming up to hit up the fresh snow. There was about 6-7cm on the ground of nice dry natural snow. Some of the best I've seen up there in last few years. When you see the clouds low over the Brindabellas and its about 5-6 degrees in the afternoon in Canberra you know there'll be a good covering there in the mountain....
Their chairlift has arrived. They are planning an "intermediate skiing experience, and lifted MTB" Wow, go Corin!
A photo of the wheelie thingys when I drove by on my way to see an overflowing Corin Dam today. Worth a look if you are into overflowing dams.
