one of the girls at work is going to Banff at Christmas time and was aski;g me what would be the best thing to get for internet coverage whilst there including roaming .She will have her laptop with her as well as phone and iPad. I know coverage can be speratic being that it’s a mountainous area but any info would be good.

Hotel wifi is all you need. If you need anymore then buy a local SIM.

    Banff Wi-Fi coverage works well.

Free wifi in every Maccas, Subway and Timmies. Plus virtually any hotel or hostel will be free. Ironically only the really high end places like Fairmont (Banff Springs, Chateau LL) charge extra for wifi.

I once found myself staying for a week in a rather squalid little two star joint. They advertised that they had wifi, but I wasn't surprised to find that my room was "out of range". So I had resigned myself to regular meals at Maccas so I could use my laptop there.

But my room overlooked a laneway that backed onto a Marriott Hotel... so I used the Marriott wifi which did reach into my room. So I got free wifi for a week. The lesson I learnt is big chain hotels have wifi that is just as good as Maccas.
