Not really sure where to put this...

Does anyone know if this is real or how it was done... One of the best shots of Thredbo I've seen

Back in the day para gliders would launch from the top of the bluff but those guys look way high so possibly an epic updraft day or jumped out of a plane.

Awesome shot, and I recall seeing it before, I believe it is real.

Looks like it would have been a good day on the ground though!

Yes it is real. They used paramotors, ie paragliders with lawn mower engines.

This flight took off from khancoban airstrip and flew to jindy without landing, I believe.

You can see the propeller and shroud on the guy's back.

Here's a higher resolution version of the same shot.

You can see they've extended Friday Flat (Giddyup) and cut the new run out through the trees for High Noon. When was that? 2013?

I was about to say based on the trees the picture isnt that old, nice pick up on giddy up. I believe giddy up has been more recent than 2013, maybe 14 or 15, my daughter never learned on Giddyup but I think my son did and he started in 16

The Burrow Snowrunner first operated in 2013. Given that the Burrow was installed at the same time Giddy Up was cut, this means Giddy Up has existed since 2013.

Alleve, I see that you've used an extract from the Thredbo section of the Oz ski lift directory. The bloke who produces it has said that he's not quite 100% sure about the dates for magic carpets and rope tows, as less stuff was published about them. I see that they don't even know what brand they are. However they are much more confident about the dates and other details of proper ski lifts like T-bars and chairlifts.

So while it's probably the best source available, I wouldn't completely trust it for dates of things like magic carpets.

I like the Oz ski directory. Found it quite interesting. I can't imagine how much work went into making it.
Checked the DA (and subsequent DA mod) for the creation of Giddy Up and the Burrow. Both state that the works were planned to be undertaken during 2013. In addition to the Oz ski directory and personal recollection, I'm fairly confident that Giddy Up has existed since 2013.
Btw, the carpet is a SunKid.

as I said Giddy up was between kids for us, our youngest started on Friday flat in 2016, man that doesn’t seem long ago, he now skis everywhere.....

anyway I checked the best research on the Web, this forum and found the following from the 2013 trip report:

There were 24 pages in 2014 now 80+
80% of the posters still post
    @telecrag still skied too much
@Untele-whippet was true to his name and tele’ed
@gareth_oau seriously has not aged.... well maybe he aged pre 14.

anyway there was a question on the new highnoon runout.
