I dont mind Black Sallees, but what about in the village?
Single malt or red wine, no beer.
The Pub (Bistro) has Young Henry's Newtowner on tap as well as Kosciuszko. Unfortunately the Newtowner has replaced the Boags Draught ... boo!
Lots of Maisel's Weiss beers around the place. Hard not to trip over them really. Not my thang.
Candlelight has a few left field things in the fridge, including a few interesting IPAs. Some of their top shelf stuff is worth a look also - barrel-aged vodka in square bottles (from my somewhat hazy memory).
The Apres Bar at the Denman has a nice Modus Operandi beer on tap; I think it's the Red IPA. Other interesting stuff available from the fridge.
Black Bear always has some interesting beers. Stav will try to pour you a Maisel's Weiss first thing but you can side-step that if you're quick.
Couple of good fridge beers in the T-Bar.
Oh, and they're serving beers in the Frostbite Cafe now. Someone said they were doing that last year as well, so I must have either missed that fact or missed Frostbite altogether last year (they all run together after a while).
This is a great list, a few points / thoughts:
Kosci seems to have gone down hill since being completely commercialised.
Totally agree on Candleight, we had some great pale ales and way to many of the top shelf vodka. It was a painful day skiing after as light was not our friend.
Berntis is serving Bentspoke which is Canberra’s offering to top craft beer, their crank shaft and burley Griffin can often be found in the top Aussie beer list.
I don't rate Bentspoke.
It's pretty bland.
Do you da Bo peeps even ski?
They drink tall beers.. .that are only 2/3 full
Ski hard, play hard, ski hungover it’s a vicious cycle.
Wow @Donzah, bentspoke bland, which beers have you tried?
Pretty sure candlelight is serving capital brewery as well.
All of them !
Should I cross post in beer thread?
Sometimes we MTB or play tennis or golf or go for a swim or work out in the gym or go fly fishing or go bobsledding or skateboarding or walking or eat in eateries and drink in drinkeries that are open in summer.
Occasionally we ski too.
They pay folks to ski for them, @telecrag is on a sinecure.
Beer & vodka, always a good mix.
The red wine never helps either
Ahhh, empirical and imperial testing has confirmed this is a no go zone.
You will miss me when you have had enough beer and want the good stuff, and before we would usually hit those secret whisky bars only the secret handshake guarantees entry.
Everything goes in DaBo.
Such a pimp!
U drinking the wrong reds!
So many cheeky replies, but sometimes she gets my iPad so I can’t
True, my doctorate from the University of Canberra confirms this, my thesis was in home made Zambucca which one can assure you does not assist mental capacity in the morning.
Respect, total respect!
Nope that’s not the problem
You made me google....
@telecrag is this helping in the decision making process of where to go for a beer?
I'd weigh in but it's been a long time since I've been to Thredbo.
I will say Bentspoke tastes better from a keg, their canned IPAs have often been sitting around too long to be fresh enough to taste good.
I should be able to get into town around 5.30, if you are all still going........
Have been staying in Jindy this season, but as its Snowtunes, happy to make an appearance! Will have to let Jen know, she has been missing me.
I can do a paper on this to. I’ll walk across the road at lunch tomorrow and try some from the brewery, then try a few more on Saturday.
Is peer review required?
The best beers I have in Thredbo are always the BYO on the flare run chairlift
Be careful when drinking BentSpoke beers from a can. It comes out with a rush.
Wide mouth so you can slam it down fast, solo style.
I so want to replicate the old solo add with pictures of @telecrag in October when he does his annual Bike, Ski Kayak day at Thredbo.
Jindy brewery, still the best feed and beer this season!
Best beers on the the mountain are the first one (BYO) consumed waiting in the lift line for first lifts. There are usually a few dirty looks though
Wow! Jindy Brewery looks good. How are the beers?
And there I was working on the idea that the distillery needed a brewery next door.
Beers are good
I’m full after Friday night pizza but after looking at that I’m hungry!
Well priced. Great view.
Pity about the walk!
If you're drinking beer from a can.
You're doing it wrong.
I don’t mind the bentspoke cans.
Craft beer should be poured.
Into suitable vessel
Agree, but craft beer in a can still shits on VB!
In tassie a few years ago we went to the St Johns beer hall, or something like that. Anyway, you could pick your beer and they would pour it from the tap into a can and can it on the spot!
@zac150 intruced me to the Bentspoke can last week.Much like.
