First shot was between howitt plains (mac springs) carpark and howitt hut

Second shot in between snowy and howitt plains

Last season, on the way out did Mac springs - winter gate in a day. Long trudge with a full pack after 5 days out there

There's a fair bit that goes on in that area.

On the right track, is an 'up' in there.

Yep, section of older regrowth karri (+100 years) in Boranup forest. Some magnificent 'young' specimens of the species in this particular block. My backyard as a kid, always back there to study eucalypt's in practice.

    Over to you.

You get a great view of the Boranup Forest by driving the south section of Caves Road, about a half hour from Margaret River.

Damm, I have been thinking the South West Cape Range, ohh hang that's the next one over from Mt Karamu, so it is a different place.:)

Except not many shell fish up there.

Maybe Red Point Hills, that would get you close to abs, but not that scratchy to get to.

So both criteria might be fulfilled on the De Witt range

Your both on the right track. Wasn't that scratchy, in south west Tas terms

Camp on low coastal hills above Hidden Bay, on Wilson Bight / South West Cape route. Solo trip, late summer, no rush or competing agendas, light was very nice so stopped & camped there after a late flight into Melaleuca. Requires certain technique sleeping directly on buttongrass.

Trip before had been a mid-winter epic, had bargained on seafood supplementing cold weather diet, but ocean was so bloody savage, couldn't get near it. Went back in the opposite season to sample the shellfish, was slightly warmer in the water, still a few moments wondering what was doing trawling for white pointers alone down at Wilson Bight. Ocean still vigorous, even in March.

Can attest the shellfish are very large, even caught a feed on way out, carted them back to Melaleuca & was eating them with friends in Hobart that evening. Pilot on out trip was about 18, calm weather, minimal cloud, we had a pretty adventurous low route along the Arthurs, directly around Federation, could almost touch the solo walker on the summit.

Answer in second paragraph - hills above Hidden Bay. Only about 200m or so.

Nice, we’ve only traversed past Hidden Bay.

I think @ecowain was the winner here.

Is this one hidden bay? Or the one further west? Can't quite remember, just that we passed it on the way west.

I think this is the next bay West of Hidden Bay.

Actually next one again Ketchem Bay.
