skifree looks like Stirling Ranges WA. or is it St Mary's Peak Wilpena Pound. Hard to believe I could confuse those two but there you go.

Forget the St Mary's peak guess. I just looked at the enlarged photo. Or atleast i think it must be the photo you are trying to post.

If I make enough guesses then sooner or later I must land in the right state. Don't think I can pick it. but I would like to add while we are in that area. Arapiles might be the best cliff in the world but Moonarie is the best cliff in Australia. Well unless you climg 25+ and then it is probably Taipan Wall.

Sorry Skifree, I just had to bring your pic on to this page. Looks nicely vegetated for the Pound. More Stirling Ranges to me. ?

I wouldnt be surprised if Beeper got Legends either. MT Jerusalm is near King David and the rock looks very similar.

Sorry sidetrack, surveyorcam is close to the area.

Thanks majik, what did I do wrong with the pic?

Without a map I'm a bit stumped on the Wall of J pic. The trees at the foot of the rock pile keep crossing off options. Maybe the hill South of the main gate from the Jewels area?

Sidetrack i was tempted to say back of serra range in gramps too, or from the chimney pots, but that isnt particularly close to st marys at flinders ranges.

I'd say the walls shot is FROM mt jerusalem looking at st davids. Dixon Kingdom hut down on the left.

Beeper is correct. It's actually named The East Wall (according to the maps) of Mt Jerusalem but faces the north, taken from the valley east of Zion Hill (make sense???)

Jugg. The snow pics are from the Walls of Jerusalem NP, in the vicinity of legend's pic. To illustrate how much snow it can receive. [IMG]

skifree hit your edit icon on your post to see the code. From memory I think you didn't have the image location 100% accurate.

right click on the pic, bottom of the list should be properties, click on that and copy the location listed. when copying from darb make sure it's the image location and not the link.

I'm tempted to say it's taken from either the Edgar Dam or Scott's Peak Dam in Tassie, but I can't identify the mountain and range in the distance. Maybe I've travelled down that road once too often!

no-one close yet. to narrow it down a little, it is a natural lake that is not in the Snowies but has a namesake there.

Ooh, after 1200 posts in this series of threads, Graeme slipped in our first non Australian piccy!

But I suppose NZ isn't really foreign, they're just another state that chickened out of the federation process :fishing:

Stone the crows, we have already established it is not far from St Mary's Peak SA and North (ok ish) from Moonarie. Which is about a 16 hour drive from the Grampians.

Yeah, thats what i want to know VSG.

I had thought that range in graemes was just cloud.

Actually Bogong, in one of the very first 'where is this's' somebody slipped in a pic of india or nepal and the outrage at a non-australian pic was tangible, so there has been an unwritten rule of no non australia pics i have wanted to break many times.

I think NZ is within the usual demographic of this forum. I also think there may have been one or more NZ pic very early in the series without much comment.
