From somewhere near Red Terrace. Thats just guessing off the topo
Sorry it must be from the NW cnr of the pound on account of the lumpiness in the foreground.
I have a poster at work showing that range and it describes it as "Elder Range - SA".
*waiting for skifree*
my money is on the Elder Range. But from where on the WP rim was it taken? I guess is the q.
Got more detailed map of the pound VSG? I'm sure it is from the NW quadrant.
Now I did post yep is the Elder Range yesterday but once again the post did not appear.
Heres what should be a nice easy one to get us out of the desert:
cathedral ranges past buxton,
either top of north or south jawbone??
Yeah spot on, if I recall correctly that photo was from the North one.
This might help. The map software doesn't mark elevations on the contours.. ??
I'm guessing somewhere near your 2km scale bar on the map.
I'm thinking this: http://darb.net/photos/anonymous/pound_to_elders1.jpg
Come on Jugs, put up a picture! This uber-pedantry over the desert pic has gone on long enough!
Hey Bogs, you never read the PM I sent ya ages ago.
Keen for another beer soon.
I am not sure how to load images can you briefly advise as I have a pic
It's easy to load a photo. Load a photo on a free website like http//:darb.net/anonymous. (It has instructions so it's fairly easy).
Then copy the pics "properties" to your clipboard. When you want to post it in this forum type .
Re drinks, hikes etc. It looks like I'm free this weekend (but I am chasing a woman, so if she's available... ) Otherwise I'm happy to meet up anywhere in the inner suburbs
bogs can you PM me you email address I just can't do it mate
ill send you da pic??
will be in touch about lagers
VSG, you are about the right mark. More likely Beatrice from memory of the wander. I would have to some review of the pics taken on the wander to be more precise.
One of mine, early 90s. Scanned in from photo.
Main Range, taken from Blue Lake looking back to where the track comes in from over the pass?
Am I in the right State? or Range?
Looking up to top of Jagungal from its western side?
My next choice is Kunama Hut Site from below a little looking back at the rocks that overhang.
Hmmm second thoughts the right hand side does not look quite right.
Near Kunama Hut site looking up onto Mt Clarke.
Close. Kunama Hut is about 3k's south-east. About.
Climbing Alice Rawson from Abbott Ridge
Well, Alice Rawson is close, but not from Abbot Ridge.
Clue: creek in foreground runs into a very well known Lake.
Climbing from Albina direct up onto Mueller
That will do. Albina up to Townsend. Cheers Legend.
Its not my turn but to keep things rolling i'll have a go. Should be easy:
Heading down Abbott Ridge (Townsend Spur) from Alice Rawson
SB, end of Watsons Craggs?
Posted mine before I saw legend's guess. Townsend Spur makes more sense.
Correct. That didn't take long - as expected.
Well as no one has posted since before smoko and it is now lunch.
The range in the background. Very distinctive and recognisable.
Is it serra range from major mitchell plateau?
MacDonell ranges in background?
Its not the elder range again is it?
No but Snow Blowey is the closest. It doe sappear in the google sat pic i posted.
A fabulous range to just sit and watch change colour as the Sun moves across the sky from Dawn to Dusk. Although dusk is the best time to watch the range.
Yep looks like a top spot. Nice colours in the photos. Unfortunately i'll need a VSG map to have any chance because i've never been to SA.
Chace Range...from VSG's map from a couple of pages back? You are either looking south (if sunset) or north if sunrise. More likely the former.
My map, for ease of reference. I'm staying out of this one.
Yep the Chace Range. In sunset. I have very very few pics of sunrise. Although we almost always camp ontop of the ridges to try and see the Dawn. All the regular campsites are for reasons I cannot fathom are in the bottoms of the valleys. Stupid really. Except it would be a bucket of erosion to run a road up. Even foot traffic has caused serious erosion at some locations such as Heysen Hill. I'll spare you folks any more boring pictures of desert for till next thread.
My turn I guess....
Whilst we are on a desert theme....
Looks a bit like Chambers PIllar.
Looks like, but isn't! Wrong state.
Queensland, vicinity of Carnarvon Gorge?
