Yep, me teaching basic mountaineering in snow that was more like porridge. I carried about 20 kg of gear that day and we couldn't use any of it except for the crampons and axes.

"Now, have a look at my equipment... the way to impress people that you are a mountaineer is to wear a checked flanny shirt at Mt Buller in August, just like me." Nah, we had fun. Got sunburnt too [IMG]

    Next piccy please.

Awwww, I feel bad about getting it so quickly, your photo is one of the nicest ones we've had. The slight afternoon haze makes it almost look as if it was painted.

If anyone else wants a go, post your photo now. I'll wait until early tomorrow morning before posting another of my piccys.

MBK is closer altitude-wise, whereas VSG is closer by distance.

VSG, you'll have to think higher than that! One could join the mile-high club in this particular location [IMG]

The photo below shows the same critter going for a jog, with a bit more of the structure's interior visible.

Charming company you keep Craig :p I've racked my brain for huts in Victoria over 1600 m that have that stove and that pre war style of woodwork. I'm reasonably confident that it's North of the Border.

Based on the first photo of the stove, I was going to say Cope Hut. But Cope has no sawn timber, so that couldn't be it.

    Nautical or Statute Mile?

In the flying world, "Mile high" is generally referenced to Nautical - ie 1852 metres (or 6076 feet on the altimeter!).

legend has it! Tin Hut it is. The little critter joined me for lunch one sunny day.

Bogong, I try to avoid their company where possible, but this one was quite charming :p

Tin Hut sits a fraction below the 1860m contour, so I think it may fulfil both :woohoo:
