    OK,
I'm back from Easter. The photo of Mt Buffalo was from the Hotham Road, near Blowhard Hut. Taken in 2003 if I remember right. The lack of foliage on the trees following bushfire the previous summer shows off the then recent snowfall to low altitude. The road on the side of a ridge in middle distance is the Hotham Road.

    Here's another...

Looks like I'll have to find something harder.

The flat topped peak on the left is unnamed, Twins on the right. Photo taken near Mt Freezeout.

On Lake Jindabyne somewhere near kalkite?

Or is it over near where the Snowy River joins Lake Jindabyne looking south towards jindy (near the Waste Point pumping station)?

Hope I didn't offend him with the flanno comments.

Heathy Spur. I presume the 'detail' is that pole. Now i think of it there is no pole line on heathy so that is going nowehere.

 Yep, about 50 metres up the hill from Geelong Grammar. One of the big snow years of the early 90's. Blew a gale all night from the north...I was surprised I was still on the mount in the morning.

That is Mt Howe behind, but lying between the dunes at it is that large freshwater lake whose name escapes me. You are on the dunes behind the beach running roughly east from Mallacoota, about halfway to Gabo.

Behind you out to sea is a small island, whose name escapes me again (not old and dottery, just the passage of 13 years since I did that walk!).

I'm a bit tempted to say the east side of the inlet at Sandy Point, but thats probably not really the prom....

Thanks VSG, although i reckon my dot c/should be on the east side of shallow inlet and therefore it would be the prom. The dunes on the west side of the entry have more veg than in the photo.

    mr and VSG,
Referring to VSG's map, I'm impressed by the symmetry of your responses. The photo was in fact taken half way between them at Big Drift. The high peak in the picture is Mt Leonard. Both Big Drift and Mt Leonard are well worth visiting for any walker with an hour or two to spare at the Prom.

Is that Feathertop in the distance, above the AAWT track marker?

Mt Cobbler is in the distance above the track marker.

My guess is the view looks west from the Alpine Road section of the AAWT near Hotham.

On the left-hand horizon are Mt Howitt, Crosscut Saw, Mt Buggery, and Mt Speculation. If you look closely you can also see the Viking crouching in front of the far range.

This is a favourite view I always look out for when visiting Hotham.

AnthonyT is correct. It was actually taken from the summit of The Twins, ~5km west of Mt St Bernard.

It will be interesting to see the Razor/Viking area post-fires. I don't think it will be a pretty sight [IMG]

I've been lurking here a while so I had better have a go.

(I've seen various instructions on how to post pictures in these threads, but I can't remember or find where I should put in the link. Can someone help me out if this is not working. :wally: )

This is the picture AnthonyT tried to post. He did the hard part of putting it up on Darb.net, but didn't manage to get it to display here. Once you know how, it's not too hard; just type "[IMG]" and it should appear.

Personally, I have no idea where it is, a tree near a river or lake somewhere?
