A map, perhaps? For your benefit, mr.
keep em comming
I've been poked into putting up an image for this as my first post, so here we go:
PS. Hello other backcountry people
Welcome aboard moosling. I'm going to get the ball rolling by suggesting its in VIC (there's a clear felled area top right. DOn't know vic well enough to know where it is though. IS it Mt Cobbler? (i mean the rocky one you see in the background of picies of craigs hut).
If you're a fair dinkum weathergirl we look forward to getting you insights during the season in the weather forum. If you're one of those good looking imposters from the commercial channels we look forward to you posting some nude shots in the near future.
Thanks Snow Blowey - it is indeed in Victoria.
Unfortunately my weathergirl-ing skills really lean more towards playing with data from weather satellites rather than applying it for forecasting.
I can however leave you with the following nude shot for your viewing pleasure:
(I'm the one on the left)
your friend has a nice ass
Can you put in a good word?
legs are a little shorter but could this be a 'fast/light' replacement for the girafe?
My guess is that lookout point at the northish westish end of the buffalo plateau. Er ar, picture point is it?
'scuse me. Craig D's pic from last thread not yet solved.
mr: It's not the Buffalo plateau... it's a little closer to Melbourne that that.
Moosling's shot - Mt Torbreck?
CraigD's - Absolutely no idea.
moosling: climbing onto Buggery from Queen Spur? The Bluff in the background
Yep, stallie has it. Climbing up Mt Torbreck, looking out to the west(ish).
had to be Vic - as immune to cold as their surfers (I used to be one but have gone soft since crossing the border)
Memories of Torbrek under snow from a midnight ascent I did of it in 1992. We were bored at a party out in Lilydale so we jumped in the car, grabbed our stuff and drove, arriving at the top of Torbrek about 0400 in foot deep snow. Infact we had snow from the car! Those were the days.
How about here for a few turns? Anyone?
My understanding of the way stuff is done here, is that it has to be in Australia, with the occasional NZ piccy let through. I don't think it's in EnZed, so I'll guess...
Mt Menzies, Australian Antarctic Territory?
Yes it is, Majikthise got it. It is the valley of Chance Creek that runs down from Tantangara Mountain past Tantangara/Harveys Hut.
Not Mt Menzies, although I can see the similarity, but close enough! It's in Enderby Land, well west of Menzies but still inside Australian Territory
Mt Riiser-Larsen on the right and the pyramid shaped peak on the left is unnamed. Nothing else in the pic has a name!
Ok heres an older one:
Ok, its in Southwest Tas, is it somewhere on the Arthur Plains near the bottom of Luckmans Lead with the Eastern Arthurs in the background. The round peak on the left looks much like The Dial.
Yeah thats it. Also keeping with the older photo theme:
I think everyone will get this in 0.001 seconds.
More old slides please! I wanna see some A-frame packs!
ok you asked for it. No a-frames yet but looking
Speaking of A-Frames anyone know where/what this structure is:
(no don't know myself currently)
mr is that
Legend. In the vicinity of Lake Eucumbene (dam wall end) I think that is Tabletop in the distance, and you are somewhere near headwaters of the Gungarilin R. ?
Thread has been hammoed.
Oh, NO, the tragedy on the 98th page! Sidetrack will be beside himself!
What happened?? Did the giraffes escape and chomp the thread to bits??
VSG is correct with Tabletop. But it isn't anywhere near Gungarlin R. BTW what is the other mountain (you can't see it any more)?
Just in case the new (old??) thread doesn't reappear here is the pic again:
Just to get the thread rolling again... can anyone pick where this spork is lurking?
(Bonus points for guessing the material from which the spork is made)
the pines campground at araps?
the spork may be made out of Titanium
Full points to Juggernaut - sporktacular
Looks like Darb's on a holiday, too.
Hooray! It's back!!
Hooray, but there's still 6+ pages in Tumbolia ( the land of dead hiccoughs and extinguished light bulbs)
Are they lost forever???
Ian D's thread in Convo, explaining the Forum meltdown, would confirm your prognosis, Legend.
Other mountain is Far Bald Mountain, so the photo was taken from Farm Ridge.
Legend, is the Farm Ridge fire trail still indistinct, or has NPWS run a dozer along it too?
From memory we had just got the photo that featured Flint and Steele in Broken Bay and someone had posted a new pic.
We'd also had had a little a rest on our laurels and congratulated ourselves on longevity - no wonder it all disappeared.
Craig D. Correct. Farm Ridge is still a beaut walk along two wheel tracks between snowgrass.
Where be that legend?
my first submission to this game ... where is this?
Mt Bartle Frere
Way back in 2001 VSG gazed into his crystal ball and had a vision of this thread. Using supreme psychic powers he determined the location of a photo which was yet to be taken, produced a map of the area and posted it on the forums. His post has remained buried until this day...
Craig D... you've resurrected the thread! How did you do that?
Where are you getting the 2001 from? My moniker on the bottom of the image says 2007... what you been drinking?
VSG, I believe that when you posted the image you upset the space-time continiuum  This transported the thread back to the 2nd of July 2001, burying it deep within the bowels of the Backcountry forum.
My post bumped the thread back up through 5 1/2 years of giraffe-talk and threads discussing the merits of titanium sporks, to emerge back at the top of the heap once again
Oh, and if you're wondering where I get 2nd July 2001 from, have a look at the date/time you posted your map. No wonder the forums got confused
thanks vsg..aint been up that way
Craig... you are right. I've stepped in and out of my Tardis, it seems.
