Well if everyone else has run out of photos, I haven't. [IMG]

The other question is, why are they all "inside" of the hut and not outside. I have no idea.

    Lake Mountain?

was it Boundary Hut. I visited it in the early 80s before it burnt down, and several times since.

it is a well known phenomenon that chookfooters (and bushwalkers too) flock to nest together at huts rather than spreading out among all the lovely isolated camp spots available. This picture just underlines this instinctive characteristic, which clearly perpetuates even when the actual hut does not

can I add one too or are the rules that we have to figure one out first?

Bitten by the backcountry bug I think after yesterday's little roadtrip...

Yeah that looks like the hut at the back of Lake Mountain at the end of the Hut Trail to me. I like the umbrella though.

Yep Currawong, it's Boundary Hut up the northern end of the Lake Mountain ski area.

Doublet, it's best to only have one pic at a time. It's Currawong's turn, but if you jump in quick you might beat her to it. We generally let relative new comers get away with minor indiscretions [IMG]

The top two photos are taken from the land we are going to build a house on later this year - sigh.

Really looking forward to seeing the snow dusting the range this year - those photos were taken by the real estate agent in July 05.

Top one is the view I will get from my kitchen sink!

Just to be sure I checked the map, glad I did as I found a couple of roads we can go blatting up....

It's Black Jack, I thought it had another name, but that's what it is on the map. Couldn't find Elliott, where is that one? Maybe another name for something as the Elliott Way goes up that way.

I thought there was a Mt elliot where there was a gold rush, and that the rd was named after the mountain. But I may be confused

No it aint SnowBlowey and as this was the first ever drive along the dirt road I was on, the snow surprised me, but it gets regular snow.

This is just before that shot when the road still bordered by gums - see little bits of snow:

got up to 110km/hr on that road that day in this old 1.4L 1983 model (car photo near Corrin, not near subject photo)

That road you mention...I remember 1992 that year there was a big dump late August and there was at least 18' of snow all along that road. I drove to Adaminaby that day and the highway was closed at Ada. All countryside from Jindabyne along the entire route past Rocky Plains and up to Ada was snowed over and it was snowing a lot whilst I was driving. Check out the depth chart below. There was around a metre at Bullocks Flat

It looks a lot like the Ben Lomond road between the toll booth and Jacobs Ladder, but I don't think Bergy posts photos of Tassie.

3 mile dam? oh lordy I love living where I do!!! Even if it isn't, it looks like it, and days like I had on Sunday, driving from Tumba to Cabramurra (checking out the xcountry trails there) then down the back way to Corryong, dinner there at the pub then back home along the "Alpine Way" to Tumba - only way it gets better than this is when there is lots of white stuff around!

    I love it here! [IMG]

still dunno, but a question - those trees on the right, it's like that everywhere up near Selwyn and right through past Cabramurra on the back road. Is this because of the fires in '03 - there is a lot of new growth coming through there, about 2m tall, but acres and acres of dead trees. Fires or something else?

Is it around here tho? Looks like it

I'd say its Rocky Valley Dam, coming down on the north side of Watchbed Creek - on the horizon is mckay right, rocky knolls left. The trail down is out of shot left..

Damn, I thought I'd posted the answer to mr, but must have clicked the wrong button.

Mr was half right - sort of. Sidetrack is getting colder.

It's from Heathy Spur track. Not looking at McKay but over to Basalt Hill. The road in the centre background will be heading up to Langfords. The inlet going out of shot on the left is Watchbed.

And doublet, the damage is from the 2003 fires. The snowgums are regenerating from the base but it will still be quite a while till the new growth masks the dead trunks

I'll guess it's past Bairnsdale on the former Orbost railway line.

It could also be past Leongatha on the Yarram line, but it looks a little dry for South Gippsland
