It was a really god little tour. Full Moon. Bluebird both days. An Aussie, Frenchman and a yankee. Skiied the sentinel 1st day four runs. Then lapped watsons crags the following day.

I love looking through this thread - I was just telling hubby... there are so many beautiful places around and half of them are in my back yard! ( :p to the mexicans!) I think I might print them all out and give us places to visit over the next few years!

Nice pic JAM. Is that Mt Loch in the background? If so you'd be out the backside (east) of golden point somewhere.

I think this is taken from up above Dead Horse Gap looking over to the Ramsheads - you can see Thredbo on the RHS of the range. Picture is taken on the trail through to the Cascades a couple of kms from where it steers South from the Thredbo river

I'd say it was taken from near the Cascade Hut track out towards the chimneys. The valley in the foreground is the Big Boggy (headwaters of the Crackenback) with the Ramshead range on the sky line.

This could be way out - looks like Mt Jagungal from the North. If I am right, the rocky outcrop is the Western side of the Mountain

Certainly not Jagungal, unless they've gone mad planting fast growing trees recently.

My wild guess is looking towards Nursery Swamp.

No doublet. Info on Blackjack and Manjar mountains can be found in the Geehi Club book "Snowy Mountains Walks".

Jagungal was also known as "the big Bogong" and Jagungal itself has had old variations, Jargunal was one. [IMG]

    Re: Where is this? No10

Close enough VSG, it is Kalkite Mountain.

Actually Kalkite Gap was the subject in this photo, and it is at the far end of the valley clearing. From there Kalkite Creek falls to Lake Jindabyne. The creek and the clearing formed an old stock route from Jindabyne to the higher ground of Snowy Plains in the early grazing days.

The photo was taken from the powerline track that runs from Burrungubugge track head to Gungarlin River.

This pic was taken from the Snowy Plains looking towards Kalkite Gap, it is delightful walking country. [IMG]
