Post pics from your overseas travels and see if we can guess where they are. Whoever answers correctly posts the next pic [IMG]

The shape of the peak looks a bit like Engelberg/Titlis but there are too many trees.

It can't be very high as the trees seem to go close to the top.

Then again, seeing as it is Go Native it is probably going to be on Hokkaido.

Seeing as it's Go Native, it has to be in Hokkaido.

However, it does look a bit like the peak above Kumanoyu at Shiga Kogen.

Maybe the peak at Zao Onsen??

Does that have lifts near it?? I think it's only fair to have a "Where is this", that people CAN identify (as it's much more difficult), so there more chance of recognising it if it has lifts nearby.

And of course, if people don't get it right, then nobody can post the next picture. [IMG]

    Any clues??

I cheated a little bit. Never been to Kurodake, just heard about it. Just tried to figure where GN might go in November and figured the higher peaks of central Hokkaido were a possibility. It clearly wasn't Asahidake so guessed Kurodake on the other side, googled it and found a close match.

So I guess I'm supposed to post the next pic.

    Back in a little while....

I would think generally yes, but an occasional non skiing one would be ok. But I guess that is more GN's call. He started the thread.

ok, now for #2. A slightly different tack. This is not a recent pic (so no point checking my recent TR's), but it should be reasonably familiar to a few of you.

I don't think we have to narrow the places to just ski areas. They can be from hiking or mountaineering trips, beaches, deserts, cities, you name it. They don't have to be too famous and yes if people are struggling throw in a couple of clues. It's just a good excuse to show off some of the great places you've visited around the world and seeing if anyone else can recognise them! [IMG]

Good work. The Chamonix valley is certainly correct. I could possibly almost pay that, but I think you need to be just a little more specific.
