and the name of the formation is Ear of the Wind.
Pic taken a few weeks before Christmas on a Navajo sunrise breakfast jeep tour. The scrambled eggs were cold in no time !
No doubt I wasn't the first to have an artistic attempt at including the tree !

I found a demarcation point for the border at Monument Valley - it’s a metal marker in the ground next to the road between the eponymous town in Utah and the site itself in Arizona
which only refers to that point - I have no idea where the line goes on either side
