a colleague of mine is visiting falls creek in a month or so, she is a beginner

she needs to rent skis and boots and clothing for hereself and 2 kids.

Where is the best place in Falls Creek?

I understand she is getting there by bus, so off-mountain may not be an option

You may not get the best price,
But you'll always get the best service from the lift company.
Any probs. with boots or skis they'll just swap them over.

Halleys Ski hire just up the road from Falls Express chair (as in 50m). One of the last remaining privately owned ski hire shops on the mountain and they actually know what they are doing (unlike the dorks at Falls Creek sports who have NFI). Will happily swap over boots and skiis if there are any size problems. Oh, and a fair bit cheaper then Falls Creek Sports. Have had great experiences with them [IMG]

Whenever the family go up I use SnowRider which is at the bottom of Falls Creek Hotel. The gear is always in good condition, the staff are friendly (and the shop/hotel is family owned and operated) and its right at the base of eagle and summit chairs so if there is any issue with the gear you can get back to the shop easily to swap something over.

I always go to Ray's but that may not be an option on the bus.

this is not my experience. much better service from the independent operators, especially central snowsports.

I agree with Stansi. My experience with Central Snowsports several years ago, wasn't quite so positive, mainly due to the situation of the business. My son was young and about to start his lesson when the bindings on his skis broke, which resulted in a download on the Falls Creek Express and then a difficult run up hill and down dale to the ski hire to get the skis changed. Subsequently I always used the Lift company facility at the base of both major access lifts, any problems are easily fixed and I found them helpful and efficient.
