I'm keen to snowboard Thredbo and Perisher for early July this year.
I'll be by myself and want to socialise easily, have a couple of drinks and generally get amongst it.
Will Jindabyne be the best bet?
If so, what are good places to stay close to the action, bars, nightlife etc.?
I'm happy to stay in a hostel, hotel, lodge, or apartment.
I've done a lot of solo travelling to NSW snowies and can recommend:
The best option for me I found was Oz Snow-
http://ozsnowadventures.com.au/australia/ (you can stay on snow in Thredbo OR stay at Snowy Valley Resort in East Jindy for even cheaper accom where they will bus you to/from Skitube for Perisher, or to Thredbo Friday Flat) they are great if you are looking to make friends and party. The bus trips they do also take the hassle out of the journey if you are coming from SYD/CBR as you can drink on the bus on the way down. It's super basic accom (LOTS of people sharing a room/bathroom) but probably the cheapest way to travel solo to the snow. Be warned though, even the buses can turn into major parties. Had some pretty wild trips with them.
Ski Kaos do similar trips though I think they might be more subdued as the first night is spent sleeping on the bus (they depart in the middle of the night). Seeing as I'm a terrible sleeper, I haven't used them yet (Oz Snow get you to Jindy by midnight so you can get a sleep on the first night), but they sound like a great option if you want something a bit nicer.
If you are happy to self drive and can book early you might still get a cheap bed at the Thredbo YHA (on snow, in the village) you should be able to get a bed in a 4 share dorm for approx $100p/n, cheaper midweek. You could get there by Greyhound buses if you don't want to drive

The Station is another self drive option, but probably a bit more expensive if you don't have friends to share the costs with.
Hope this helps
