So making my annual pilgrimage to Buller this week and I'm wondering where's good to eat with a couple of teens in tow? What's reasonable, where needs a booking and what should be avoided?
Plenty of options. Where are you staying? At the ‘lower’ end - Pats Italian, Abom, Arlberg, Pub. Pub meals are great, no bookings needed. Middle rung - The Whitt, Cattlemans. Best to book especially weekends, but you can eat in the Whitt ‘bar’ area sans-booking, space permitting. Upper end - Snowpony, Grimus, Breathtaker, Chalet. Definitely book. Good luck avoiding the mini donuts.
Perfect! And there are mini donuts, this could be an issue. Staying on the Avenue near Standard Lane so The Whitt looking likely.
Ended up eating at Breathtaker upstairs. 'twas pretty good and I thought good value too. In terms of price and quality it's what I would expect at a decent inner city pub. I really enjoyed he Buttered chicken (curry of the day), which was way beyond my expectations.
New Place over where the old YMCA was, cafe on the corner of the building, cant remember the name. Good coffee
