I flew the (Edit: Qantas) A380 Sydney to LA on Business (never flew Business before that, but I did fly Emirates First from Christchurch on points and that was insane!). I was slightly underwhelmed - A380 felt a bit dated, and having a 2/2/2 config and having to step over a neighbour to access the aisle it felt more like a premium economy. My return leg is via 787 from San Francisco so have higher hopes for that one!
The A380s with that seating are around 10 years old and showing their age. Small non HD screen and just a worn product The 787 seat/suite is far superior 3 out of the 12 A380s have the new business class with 2 getting upgraded at the moment All will have the new interiors by year end
We were on one of the new QF 787 SFO-SYD in December. With 1-2-1 it was equal to many of the best business class seats (non suites) and the crew were surprisingly very good. The older skybeds aren't much better than BA's densified Club World. And one of QF 747 J cabins is still 2-3-2.
