At the prices, I won't get an annual pass this year. The only value is that there should be no queues for the money. So no vote from me.

I only generally go midweek so that suits me. 8 day break-even. I note there is no consecutive day discounts at all in peak season. Thats a bit of a beat up.

If this represents the new norm I’ll be organising my life to ski elsewhere going forward. Probably Hotham. Luckily I have options at clubs in PB, Hotham and Falls.

I really feel Thredbo is showing no respect for its customers on this one.

Yes, its interesting that they have gone back to the (pre Epic pass), US model.

We were never schooled in that way of thinking....

I might have considered the mid week or value pass if it was cheaper than the Epic pass, but im struggling.

i'd rather an Epic passes and a Mtn collective pass.

All days at 3 resorts in Australia, and 3 days at Thredbo and 2 at buller...

I think that’s the option. Epic Pass as the base for local skiing and offshore, plus a Mountain Collective one basically for offshore benefits. I think both together are about the price of the Thredbo base pass.

Yeah, it seems the smart move.

And even with a few 50% off days, your still under budget of an premium pass.

this was my aim the year I did my ACL... LOL

im still unsure if I will ski this season and thankful that there is the perisher option sub $1000k still available to me.

Still cheaper, but inconvenient, to get an epic pass and drive there each day.
That would be funny to stay at thredbo and ski at perisher.
But parking at thredbo too challenging to move your car after you get overnight parking.

    Ask @easty

I know a few thredbo property owners that ski perisher. Short drive against the traffic to ski tube.

Yeah Thredbo can eat it with those prices after last year's expensive debacle of a season. I'll happily be a Perisher peasant from now on.

We haven’t got the email yet, but a friend has.

So that will be a premium pass - 25% for PB
And a staff pass for me.
    Plus we have Epics.

    LOL

I'm just curious to know the make up of those who buy a season pass - which one is most popular.

No interest in those who would never buy a season pass. Nor flounce...

Not going down for the school holidays but would like to ski weekends. Two separate weeks already booked, plus a possible 4 day weekend in mid September, plus maybe another weekend. Easy decision.

You are missing the discount passes in the poll.

owners and those on season programs get the 25% discount.

We are going the full haemorrhage (thankfully discounted), we have a weekend planned in the school holidays and the discount vouchers will help friends.

Still an excellent deal for over 70's, equivalent to a one day ticket. Over 65's get a lesser discount.

Neither of those apply to me. Not sure if that is lucky or unlucky:p

    no idea

you know all I know, I honestly expected season passes to go up d for them to be split but I didn’t expect this.

basically as I see the pass has gone from $865 to $2,265 which is huge.

Last year I had an Epic Aus Pass - which got refunded as I'm in Vic.

This year, it was going to be a toss up between a single trip with my boy for a week, or that plus a trip with friends. If I was certain that Perisher/Hotham/Falls Creek would be offering full day snowboarding lessons for 5 year olds, I'd have grabbed an Epic Aus Pass.

If I was certain that I could get to Thredbo more than once and the season pass made it worthwhile, I would possibly buy one grudgingly, and then be looking at an Epic Aus Pass again next year so since Hotham will become an option.

Hell, if I had realised that Mt Baw Baw would be offering 6 hour snowboarding lessons for 4-6 year olds, I probably would have grabbed their $299 early bird season pass!

As it stands, my "season pass" is likely to be a Mountain Collective Pass (hopefully at parity, but I'm not holding my breath), I just need to verify when I will be able to reserve dates with that pass to ensure that I'm not locked out.

This is basically my plan. Hoping for a week at Hotham or Falls with my 7yr old daughter. Will def do some day or weekend trips to Baw Baw. Perhaps a trip to Perisher or Thredbo for a low season, weekday trip if feasible.

I am soooooo keen for him to be old enough that I don't have to agonise over which resort will actually offer his lessons. I know I drone on about it, but it really is a significant factor in where we go.
Hell, when the pricing came out, I considered running the numbers on the cost to go to Hotham and have him go into either the Mighty Mites or day care plus doing Riglet lessons (probably day care + Riglet, as the other would just be too hard).

That didn't really feel fair on him, so I think we'll be into Thredbo.

For better or worse, our second kiddo will have her first birthday in 6 weeks, so I get one year of free choice, and then we go through the whole thing again, except that this time I'll have to consider school holidays! (I'm planning on using this to get two trips, where I go for one week with each kid :D )

I’d normally do the full Thredbo winter pass. Sometimes I’d do the 365 pass. X 3 (2 adults, 1 child).

With Thredbo now way out of step with its peers I’ll be revisiting that. Depending on where I plan to ski that following northern winter that may be just an Epic Pass, or Epic plus Mountain Collective.

    • On current pricing the “break even” for the Thredbo season pass vs Mountain Collective appears to be 14 days
    • The break even is 10 days for a season pass vs full day pricing.
    • Up to 6 days the day pass is cheaper than the mountain collective , but
    • between 6 and 13 days the best option is Mountain Collective.
just sharing my very rough “back of the envelope” calculations.

Of course Epic equals 5.5 days skiing as a break even based on Thredbo prices.
