I think know this one....nearby Herberton is higher altitude and unbelievably for its latitude has recorded a min temp of -5c !
Atherton is about 160m lower altitude than Herberton.
Might be one of the rearby ag/research stations, Kairi or Walkamin. ?

I know for certain there's an AWS at Mareeba but too cool to be there I think.

Should we be looking further south than the Tablelands ? That July av max has me fooled some...either higher altitude and/or latitude than Herberton is a hard one....haha

These frosts on the tablelands are brutal on the veg, especially the forested areas. Not many cold tolerant species here.

But frosty mornings are still beautiful.
Here's one courtesy of Malanda Falls Caravan Park about 40-50 minutes away from mystery sites.

I pretty much would have to look up sites on the Atherton Tableland on climate data online which kinda defeats the purpose of guessing.
Go for it @Greysrigging

Okay did find it but cheated. What a tricky one! Never would've even picked it on a map

Not sure where it is exactly but it's either at this site or the nearby top lift station.

I have one here that might or might not be very difficult.
The climate data probably gives away the general location, if not specifically
Note the exceptionally mild record low max and min temps !

Those temps have to be coastal tropical, but the monthly rain is too low to be anything NT or Qld.
WA?

Okay here's one

PS: Quite surprised at the low rainfall at Cape Wessel. Pretty similar annually to here in Wollongong

Yep that's it! I did think it would be a bit of a give-away once the correct state was established. Pretty unusual climate for SA being 350m and on a peninsula near the coast. Adelaide is about 7 degrees warmer in summer.
Yep that's what did it for me. Camping at Deep Creek was always a nice break from the heat of Adelaide in summer.
