Honestly, I reckon the asking price would be at least 3 times what Perisher went for, maybe more. The owner is not interested.

I tend to agree. Thredbo seems to generate comfortable profits for its parent in good years and bad. My guess is an exceptional price would be needed to prise it out of EVT's hands.
With the property side of things under the head lease it is a unique situation. Those "bed licence" fees aren't cheap, not to mention commercial rents. Much money
The US resort companies are interested in the season pass holders when they invest, Perisher apparently has 30k of them that's is why they were attractive. How many would Thredbo have?
