Popular Falls Creek apres ski spot, elk restaurant and bar, has created a cocktail to celebrate the shortist day of the year known as the Winter Solstice.
Winter solstice, an astronomical phenomenon, occurs in the Southern Hemisphere on June 21.

Worldwide, interpretation of the event has varied from culture to culture. elk at Falls Creek are recognising it as what will be the real start of the alpine resort's winter season.
Mine host Barry Iddles said: "Guests can enjoy complimentary beer and wine between 5-6pm then dine on the ala carte menu with main courses reduced to $20 each and desserts reduced to $10 each..and of course our stunning aguavation a snap at $10.

"It will be a night of fun and frivolity. Winter has truly arrived at Victoria's most picturesque alpine resort with sub zero temperatures this week and some healthy snowfalls forecasted for the weekend to coincide with our Winter solstice apres ski party."

Footnote: The aguavations cocktail ingredients are
    30ml agwa
    30ml finlania lime (vodka)
    Juice of half lime
    Topped with Bundaberg ginger beer
