We're off to Dwellingup for our annual Winter Solstice curry night. About 20 or so of us usually rock up for the big curry dinner Saturday night. The rest of the weekend is spent collecting and burning wood, drinking cocktails, riding the bush tracks etc. One of the icon events of the year.
even though we've only got a few more weeks here in Vancouver , I'm looking forward to the days getting shorter for sure. Birds start chirping and sun starts rising around 3.45am (ish) and it's still dusky close to 10pm at the moment.
Used to go to a Winter Solstice party fairly regularly about a decade ago, here in Brisbane. The guy that hosted was rather eclectic and had a proper British pub under his house. Had a full rotisserie in the pub that could handle a whole hog, made in his own Blacksmith workshop/forge which also doubled as the smokers area. Wood fired pizzas would come out about 11pm to top off the night. Fantastic memories .
