Yes, one about where the flags go up in summer and one straight out from the toilet block - been consistently good with any tides and a NE swell since the big storm pushed the sand around in a favourable way. Bit of an inshore channel but the banks outside of that are good ones.

Smiggins is well on the way to repair (again - will be the third start for the season there) after the epic rainfall. Hopefully all lifts back open in a day or two.

The reforms were the go today with the sets tending to close out.

    Westernport all-time this Arvo.
Really strong swell, my regular spot was solid 5 ft, barrels on the reef.
One of the strongest swells I've had out there at that size. Just really meaty and consistent. Unloading on the reef.
Made 2 genuine barrels, wide open, not typical vicco duck under style cover-up.
Didn't get a lot, paddled around like a goose at times but still got 3 all the way through and a 3 or 4 other OK ones.

Read that Ballina incident on Stab, sounded freaking scary and a bit reminiscent of Fanning's encounter! How's the guy moving his leg just in time before the Noah took it - hectic!

Yeah, full on! What's the old saying, the one you don't see. I'm riding the fence on this subject. The attacks are getting out of control but at the same time I've complete respect for them. A mate who was at the snow with me last w/e lives down that way and hadn't seen the article. He was planning on surfing Sharps this morning. Remaining vigilant is the best defence I s'pose.

Vooey would be massive today and probably holding it, maybe Solander but could be too south

The outer reefs have got some serious size,I tried to get some photos on the phone but to far away.Solander is definitely out of my league. The Point and Island are holding some nice waves but well populated

Had some great surfs over the weekend.

Haven't surfed Curly in ages and it was actually really good around the low and incoming tide Saturday, going through a few weird stages but pumping at others.

Then further north Sunday was super fun 3-5ft glassy wedgey/wally numbers, uncrowded for the late session.

I can remember chatting to old Byron locals back in the early 90's about the big white's that used to flock to the Meatworks area this time of year and how they still cruise the Belongil stretch as part of the whale trail. Not sure how applicable that is now it's 50+ years since whaling finished.

A mate surfed Nth Brunz yesterday, nothing to report 'cept waves.

    Byron area scares me now.
Surfing the beachies near broken solo freaked me out a bit.
    Will still surf it though.

I surfed Waitpinga on Sunday and it was a super fun 2'. Maybe 3' on the sets. There were some great walls coming through. Looking forward to heading south again this weekend. Currently surfing a 3/2 in SA. it's amazing to be in some warmer waters.

First surf since the snow. Sort of fitting the winds were similar to that of Sat'dee week ago on the slopes. Plenty of waves, crowds minimal. Good times except for the camera's focus not dealing with the light through the rain squalls.

It was the only burn I saw over the 2 hrs, which is a rarity. If the weather backs off tomorrow, you could probably throw in another person dropping in and add another three ppl paddling in on the shoulder. Any day surfing the points up here without getting dropped in on or having to adjust your line on a wave is a good one.

It's dog eat dog on the Goldie. But to be expected with a good standard of local crew and a huge influx of tourist. The quality of waves far exceeds my local.

Just got back from a surf, I had it on the higher tide and didn't see many like that :o Full pipe!

Was fun though, 3-4ft+ and some nice carve bowls.

    Yep.
Mornington Peninsula should have stopped at (an increased to 2500m) Arthur's Seat and the west coast continued all the way up to Melbourne.

    Edit;
Add a deep water trench to my wish list, funnelling and amplifying swell all the way in too.

I reckon there'd be many wealthy Melburnians that might lament the loss of their exclusive weekend getaways down on the Mornington Peninsula!
As for my own opinion, I'm not sure we'd be losing too much!
Does anyone that plays for Geelong in the AFL even live there? They're all down on the Surf Coast, surely?

Looks flat at my regular (mostly winter) spot for the next week.
Oh well, open beaches it is. 3-4 ft.
No idea about Banks though. Been a while since I needed to know.
Last 3 months has been like clockwork on the reefs (west coast and westernport) here in Victoria.

Everyone get some this morning? Palm Beach was pretty good for the early, 4'+ on the sets out the front of 2108 Espresso at the south end, bit bigger further north, smaller down at Kiddies' Corner. Got an OK haul of waves, managed to cork my left thigh (twice, same muscle, sigh) getting worked, but all-in-all an excellent session even though there were many more people in the water than usual. Actually looked better about 10am than when I got in the water a bit before 7, but I wasn't up for a second session so soon.

FYI a cool feature has just gone live on Surfline that crowd-sources surf information from Trace GPS trackers (if they invite you or you ask to be included) and displays alongside their forecast swell information for a location. For example http://www.surfline.com/surf-report/palm-beach-new-south-wales_66481/ should include a panel with information auto-submitted from my session (I hope that link works, anyway the Palm Beach forecast page is the one it is included on) - the "raw" Trace session information (or at least the subset the website shows) for my session is at http://surf.traceup.com/stats/u?uId=557376&vId=32316

I don't think it can catch Pokemon but they DO have leaderboards so I tried to suggest to @Normo a few weeks ago that he might consider taking up surfing - never too late ;)

I'd say the reason why it would have been better at 10am would have been more water on the banks, given the early low tide ;)

The novelty of these things called "banks" is still something we are trying to get used to again at Palm Beach ;)

Actually what looked like happened is the swell dropped a bit as well as the tide rising and the inshore bank/shelf turned into the main bank (and the outer one stopped working altogether) and that inshore one was better - that and the offshore wind dropped off a bit too.

This morning was ok, surfed the same bank around the same time (so just after dead low tide today) was maybe a foot smaller on the average sets and some big wash through ones still appearing. Bit more backwash and weird cross/reflected waves than you'd ideally like but pretty nice. Had to share with a surf boat training, some body surfers and the usual array of mals and skis, plus the mal club was having their monthly contest on the next peak north AND there was also some sort of grommet frenzy (about 20 paddled out together around 9am when I had enough anyway). Bit of a zoo for the middle of winter but there were plenty of waves to be had, particularly early.

Actually had my first surf in almost 2 months today. Ended up surfing this arvo at Mid Steyne, Manly. Mostly pretty straight given the S/SE direction but still the odd peeler off a rip bank with sets pushing through every so often to about 3ft or so. More size and better shape around Queensie but it was mobbed and I had no paddle fitness for it. Lots of good surfers up that end.
