backs and surfing... mutually exclusive my back is no where near as flexey as it used to be..I can so feel it. mind you the 20 kgs put on since I was surfing 3 times a day doesn't help
I was 63 at 25.. 83 at 35... all muscle mind you... bodyboarding keeps you pretty lean...like a long distance runner
Fun little surf this morning at Bondage. Water is still nice; 4' faces on the sets (2' on the wanka scale). Quite a few whales around this morning as well. A mother and calf breaching off Ben Bucker at around 8:00 am and when I left at 9:45, a quite sizable pod was heading north about a km off shore.
2ft at barrenjoey late yesterday afternoon. Just Midget Farrelly and yours truly out. No oomph left in the swell
Got out for a bit of a bash on the beachys down towards broken early this morning, waist high. First surf in 3 weeks, water is still great but it was pretty fresh at 6 this morning
Ok, we've heard what Toto has to say. What do the rest of you guys think?? Should the Surf Threads continue to be in Weather (with the risk of the occasional "encroachment" by the Weather Mods ), or would you prefer it to be in Convo or Sport like all of the other sport/activity type threads?? Personally, I think it can still reside here, as long as it doesn't depart too much from the Weather forum rules.
Was Toto serious? I don't see that would could be. Why would anyone who isn't participating care? Be that as it may I think surf conditions are a weather related discussion. Between updates and reports and photos there's banter between people with a common interest, about the common interest. Can't see anything wrong with that. This thread wouldn't work in most other sub forums, because of its low turnover. It would disappear. I say leave it as is.
I'd be embarrassed if I had a name like Toto Warmlet. To be named after an electronic toilet seat? Back on topic; water warm, but much flatness at Bondage today.
Toto makes the reasonable request that the thread tries to focus on surf conditions, swells and lots of photos - and less on backs etc. Sounds like a reasonable request to me, but it's your thread.
I can't believe Toto was serious!! As pointed out above by Buzzy, this thread would get lost anywhere else and it is talk about surfing (observations and pictures) by surfers to surfers (who have different scales of measurements ) Leave it be Here's a pix from a recent Manly sessions when there was swell..
Might be my fault this thread has gone down hill, pretty much worked a month straight with out a day off, losing my $h!t a little, dirty Donza has been egging me on a bit too. Real sorry Toto Warmlet, where do you surf?
Mostly within a couple hundred metres either side of here, Fitzroy in New Plymouth I've had a chat to Claude Cat about it. The mods have been very tolerant with this thread I reckon. Personally, I'd like to see more pics, more local predictions and observations, maybe some equpment stuff, maybe a trip report or 2? I don't want to appear a wowser, the gods know some of my posts are weird enough, but I think "convo" like stuff should be left for those brave enough to venture into the depths of that forum. I'm not a great fan of lids, but bagging them too much is a bit like the old sad boarder vs skier gibes.
Yeah but Donza is a booger and a boarder and a kiwi (triple whammy), he also claims that i have a slight kiwi accent.
2-3' offshore at 1st Ave Broadbeach today Son took out his new Go Pro http://www.youtube.com/user/mattkent08#p/u/1/J_lt-Imk7M4 Check out his clip of Nozawa also..... http://www.youtube.com/user/mattkent08#p/u/2/nDT_PpE6EZU
Tis true PM. maybe its a bomber accent instead.? do you drive a SUV as well?..to Buller? Ocean is flat as a pancake down my way. Very wintery type pattern. All or Nothing.
sorry for not replying earlier buzzythesecond. yes thats the spot. wednesday the surf was flat at newcastle. about 2 foot and hardly breaking. dunno what its like today. p.s. Donza is ok for a lidder and a skidder.
Very small at Bondi this morning. Even the mal was struggling. Got two of the lamest waves of my life.
Yeah Sunday's looking good! Long-range E/NE groundswell and offshore winds. Nothing big but fun nonetheless
I can't see it at the mo... depends on too many variables. is that low to the north of NZ getting squezzed thats doing it..
That's the low Donza, it's currently generating the swell and Monday morning is likely to still see 2-3ft waves around Sydney. Will be inconsistent though!
Off for my first "surf" in three weeks in an hour or so. Looks flat, so I've got the aircraft carrier ready to go.
4s4, will try and make it but I'm heading to Darling Harbour for the soccer on Saturday night so I don't like the chance of me getting up for the early :s
Poooor timing Buzzy! Even the 10'3" was no help today. The set of the day peeled in when a humpback breached off Broken Bay...
Just got this Facebook update from a mate, somewhere we'd rather be: "XXX paddled out at J Bay on my Terry Fitzgerald single fin and popped up out the back next to...Terry Fitzgerald. So, so epic."
Flaaaaaaat yesterday. Took out the mal. Normally when it's that flat there's 3 men and a bikini clad brazillian floating around. Yesterday every man and his dog were "on it", where "it" was half a foot to a foot! Looks just a tiny bit bigger today and about to head for a wave. Had some nice waves Friday arvo though - 2 foot but a nice consistent 2 foot. Had the 7'4" out and had some fun, even if it was the first surf in 3 weeks.
It's here but it looks like Northern NSW / Sthn QLD is getting the best of it....down here in Sydney it's pushed up to about 2.5 ft this arvo but super inconsistent! Craig, I went out at Sthy and got a couple, I was in from about 230 to 330 - at about 315 the wind went Sth and was just enough to wreck it Still good to get wet - it's been at least 6 weeks! I got one really nice left that made it all worthwhile
Hey Donza, the left is next to Shallows... i don’t mind saying it as i have been surfing down there for 10years and that was the first time I have seen it break.
Yeah I figured it was that... from the red-dog angle... I've seen it break, ages ok mind you... July 2001 I went down in my lunch break to check it.. was about the only place handling..with mini pipe ahh so NE swell hoax this weekend down my way NZ got in the way...
Broken was pumping this morning but super crowded, somehow there is still a million dole bludgers up here.
