I'm headed down to torquey tommorow for some waves at most likely bells or winki, gonna freeze, my balls off, but should get some good waves.

Hopefully there wont be too many damn schoolkids in the water.

Went to goolwa yesterday and on the trip down through Mt Braker the temp was -2deg and when we got down to the main car park it was 3deg and we were the only ones around besides the usual horse riders.

It was around 2-3' and with a very crisp offshore creating nice and clean A-Frames with plenty to choose from but with me and my mate having the whole stretch to oursleves for 2hrs that didn't stop 2 surfers paddling out straight to our peak when there were just as good setups 100m left or right of ours [IMG]
Seriously what is wrong with some people, don't they realise that they would be pissed off if we had come and sat on their little peak if they were the only ones out?? Sometimes you've just gotta wonder...

Anyway was around 3-4' after lunch and the sea breeze had kicked in but it was still good [IMG]

Nice shots of Nulla. Love the first one. I was busy earning for all the good waves early in the week BUT ...... whoot whoot its going ORFFFFFFF. Solid 6ft+ sets wide off the point running all the way down through the corner and onto the end of the pines. Clean, offshore diamond white spray and deep, deep blue water. Bloody beautiful mate.

Its getting biiiigggggeeeerrrrrr all the time. My beach is just one big oversized streaming offshore swell zone and the south end under the cross is starting to light up with a coupla guys getting some loooooonnnnggggg waves from out where the headland meets the ocean.!!!!!!!

Sizeable swell hitting in here for once and it looks like it will max out during tuesday but hopefully there's still at least 5' hanging around on wednesday as I finish exams on tuesday and then I'm heading straight down and camping over night :woohoo:

Well the swell didn't really get to the anticipated size which was forecasted and which I would have pressumed as well looking at the charts and wavebuoy at KI and as Ben stated I don't know why it didn't, with that bigger peroid I would have thought that it would have easily wrapped around KI and easily made it into Encounter Bay but it just didn't seem to work.

Just some feedback though Ben is that I heard it peak during Tuesday night at around midnight or a little after, can't be sure what time beacuse I didn't check my phone, and I looked our from my swag above the dump and it was absoultely thundering in with the walls of whitewater the only visible thing I could see breaking out a good 100m or so offshore. When morning came it was all but gone [IMG]

    Here's 2 shots..

Ben, is this any chance of getting a forum similar to this set-up on swellnet, i'm guessing it would get alot of traffic just judging by the amount of people who i know use your site....by the way its a really really good site!

thanks Hotham_boarder_len. We currently don't have any plans to add a forum to Swellnet - I already work 18 hour days; a forum would just fill up the remaining 6 hours answering questions.

    I was in county Sligo....

It is mid summer and we were wearing steamers - some had bootees.....

Well it is the best i can do atm :tany:

Working on better surf location when i return to Oz...
Need to surf way more often if I am gonna get any better at this stuff!

    Anyone got any suggestions?
Need a job in a pharmacy nearby.... and maybe access to a uni that has a physiotherapy course (physios can work min ski resorts overseas!)

I'd suggest Sydney but you probably wouldn't like the crowded surfing conditions - or the cost of living in the world's 19th most expensive city. Plenty of pharmacies and unis though.
Maybe Newcastle? Largish regional city with good beaches, easy access to Mid North Coast and would assume University of Newcastle has physiotherapy course. Assume Newcastle also has pharmacies. [IMG]

    thanks guys....

yeah - living in sydney is NOT an option... tried it once and hated it!

Newcastle does have physio I think and last time I checked lots of jobs...

I don't think Wollongong has physio.... but south coast area and canberra uni may work depending on the course structure...(can I NOT attend every day but in smallish blocks)

Gold coast uni looked a possible - but their course structure is ridiculous... (have to do another course of theirs first and they refuse to discuss credits until enrolled - could take way longer than even a standard 4 years course - stupid!! I think it is a money making venture)

Brisbane is looking a maybe - again course dependant...

Perth is starting to be possibility.....

I thought an Australian Physio Degree was not accepted OS (at least Canada and the US) and you needed to do extra study?

It has been a great winter of surf so far. I am managing about 3 surfs a week and its all been fantastic. Yesterday was 7 guys out on a heaving 4-6ft point, glassed off and starting to get cold.

Points definitely the go with the current swell R&C. I've managed to get a few in in the past week as well but only on the beachies. Lots of closeouts. Still fun though.

Stuffed the rock off this arvo and cut the crap out of my feet on the pesky rock creatures ... then took two suck sections from the back peak sets on the head after takeoff ... finally got a screamer and hit the lip a bit hard on my second top turn, the lip threw out and my board came around quick and I sliced a very clean chunk off the meat on my palm with my fin. [IMG] One good thing about winter is your don't really feel and cuts until you hit the shower.

Great session yesterday ... one of those very, very off days today. To top it off one ear has a niggle of an infection and I got some crap flu.

Fork it ... I better go to work tommorrow and the relative safety of my cubicle. [IMG]

Still plenty of swell around and brillaint conditions. Have fun PMG.

Swell is on the way up now, the period should reach 12 seconds and 10ft from the central coast to south coast, shame about the damn winds, get out there early

ABDT, the swell period will be a lot larger than that. The same swell has already hit Victoria with peak swell periods of 22.5 seconds.

Today's increase is from a different fetch, and is therefore unrelated to the swell we'll see tomorrow.

The swell is already here BUT I have too many weeping half healed deep cuts and this flu is total crap. I am gonna stay under the doona for this one.

The South points are the pick as the swell builds with the SW wind. It is forking cold though.

Well went down to victor yesterday to get my head wet and that didn't even really happen because it was so clean and small you could basically catch a wave do what you wanted on it and then finish off the end section and then paddle back without going underwater except when I stuffed up hitting the lip at the end I got a bit of a wetty rinse but that was about it [IMG]

Great surf yesterday with 4-5' of clean straight swell hitting in with big faces and long walls to play with, beautiful weather too but its a bit concerning that its been great weather nearly all winter with very little rain [IMG]

I have a new ripcurl 4/3 E-Bomb and it would have to be the best thing since sliced bread! I cannot even feel water inside my wetty for the first half hour or so and the batwing is one of the best inventions I have ever some across, no water flushes at all and I am so warm in it that i actual get pretty warm out in the water and have to sometimes wet my face and even dive in and swim around!

Anyway on the surf front I surfed goolwa at 3-4' yesterday morning and then the mid from 5 till dark just north of seaford inside bowl because that had about 30 people sitting on it but got a nice slow takeoff, to racey to suckey closeout reef to my self [IMG] Was lots of fun and was the last one to come in.

Nothing worth going out in down Torquay way on Saturday morning. 1 - 2 ft
