And there's no snow yet :)

Going to Port Stephens this weekend for standard beachies, wish I was continuing to Crescent early next week looking at the charts but that would be a career limiting move....

Winters aren't traditionally to good up here, straight south swells that mostly march right by us, normally a reflection of the lows hitting the alps and moving out off the coast to unzud, this year could be different. Waters still 24°, i've been surfing in boardies during the day, springsuit some mornings.

Had some fun waves last Sunday arvo when the wind went NW, missed the Monday/Tuesday pulse but got some really fun, smaller leftovers on Wednesday arvo.

This weekend not looking too flash but should be something to surf...

    Here's a story, about a morning glory
    [IMG]

A little sunrise, might lead to fun rides.

Load up the rack and follow a track
    [IMG]

    When in nature, nature calls
    [IMG]

Things makes you squeam when lean is mean.

Can't beat the old surf n turf
    [IMG]

Small but fun, better than some.

It's time to go, but not this slow
    [IMG]

The arvo sun is always fun
    [IMG]

So so small but having a ball
    [IMG]

But when the sun sets, the fun does too.

There was allegedly a sponsored competition where you and mates would be taken to any place where you could find a wave that had not been discovered / surfed (how that prove it I don't know).
    So the story goes....
I'll get more reliable info at smoko tomoz LOL

Yes that too. Speed Bump is my fave
Step one was the Zippy Board
    [IMG]
Then there was the Belly Bogger
    [IMG] [IMG]

I'm so young I remember the Surf 'O ' Plane ( aka surf mat) we used to hire off clubbies at Flynn's Beach. http://encyclopediaofsurfing.com/entries/mat-surfing
    The KFC coolite.
Shane coolite, my first board . http://encyclopediaofsurfing.com/entries/coolite

While I'm at it, IMO, snowboards are the bodyboards of the mountains...:axe:
(BTW some of my best friends , have travelled with etc. snowboard and do it extremely well.I am tempted to be honest )

Too easy for too many folk to get out there , out of their depth , with no idea of the basics or the un-written rules. :tany:
    Soz.

Yeah, I thought the same thing about swimming before I did a Mick Fanning and tore my hammies off the bone but over the last four months going for an ocean swim has been a <deity of choice> send and even though I'm now back on the board, if the surf is shyte I'm more than happy to have a swim

So surfed for maybe 5hrs today, couple of good barrels, nothing amazing but solid. Second surf in maybe a month was struggling paddling for the start.

2 surfs today at Skenners and Speeds (sth of Lennox). Was solid and smooth if a little fast. Needed a break after losing my board and swimming in. Not much fun getting pummelled and going against a small rip in a steamer. Had to have a lay down after that.

Wow, got a new lesson in how quickly swell can rise on the East Coast on the weekend, Sunday morning surfed a fun 2ft bank at Moruya from 8am-9am on the easing east swell. Went back to camp to have a coffee and dry out, walked the dog, and when I went back to the beach at no later than 11am it was 5ft+ and building on the new south swell.

That east swell on Saturday had a fair push!!

Cycled today, too crowded to surf in Bondi ever. Might head to Cronulla tomorrow before this current swell disappears totally.

Gonna be some serious swell down vicci with this cold front coming.
With the predicted W winds it will be the surf coast firing. Could see some real big bells.
Westernport right points should be quite good also especially the ones in the protected nooks and crannies as the wind is gonna blow. Pity its mid week and us norms have to work. Sadface

Bondi wasn't that bad Angus. Mind you, I had a kid laugh at me today as I quite acrobatically bungled a takeoff which was a bit embarrassing! A bit of back story to that in that he'd dropped in and fallen off in front of me and there was a bit of wounded pride on his part but I was laughing at myself and I don't think there was any real malice on his part. Just felt the need to share that!

Anyway, nice playful waves at Bondage the last couple of days. That ideal 2-3 foot mark that really works at Bondi, with clean winter swells. Maybe a foot extra would be ideal but as we all know that extra grunt can just turn into close outs.

I'm down to just surfing weekends now. I have my last exam for my Masters on Friday - I won't know what to do with all my free time!

@Annabuzzy have done quite a few of those acrobatic takeoffs myself..... not good when you have the inside and others have pulled out

I'm happy to swim at Bondi but I just can't be bothered with the crowds. Hopefullly will get down to beach house next weekend or the one after for some uncrowded south coast goodness.

I think the weekend after this has some long range promise, this weekend is snow time.

I'm pretty lazy with photos but took a few on the weekend, just the usual haunts. Taken from mobile with no zoom.

Actually had a great session yesterday. Spent over 2 hours in the water. Sets were a bit sparse but when they did arrive very fun up to chest/shoulder high.

Glad I got a surf in yesterday.... just check the CoastalWatch cams and two hopefuls on Bondi Beach with boggie boards and less than 1' of intermittent wind swept waves.

From down at Glenelg on Monday when the last front came through. More people were out at West Beach, north of the breakwall. Still nice to see people getting there 'stormy' session in. Didn't get in myself, the wetsuit has <cough> shrunk....

Pretty big for Glenelg; in all my trips to Adelaide I've never seen more than a ripple there.

Would be rare for it get much bigger as well. It wasn't possible to walk in Mosely Sq where the tram terminates due to the wind tunnelling through, people were literally getting blown over. I've been in cyclones with sustained winds well in excess of 100km/h and when the gusts came funnelled through the square it was pretty damn similar feeling.

That A-frame in shot 2 looks pretty fun Belly - looks a bit like Bendalong but I realise it's not, further south somewhere near shot 1?

I miss that place, got to get down there soon Belly!

Had some good surf the last couple of days. Surfed this right hander this morning. Normally its a bit of a secret spot but there was already 8 people out when I got in the water at 6:45. One of them was Sally Fitz! Actually a really good vibe in the water and everyone shared some waves. Sally was ripping.

Got home just before dark and surfed another local reef. This time it was Dean Bowen and mates in the water! still managed to get a few waves.

Great day watching the sun rise and set from the water :)
