Thanks to you now I think I know those spots - I prefer my crowd levels but your reefs
nice pics PPP - don't know either of those spots.
Had a few fun 2ft+ waves this morning all to myself on the local stretch. The water is still so warm and it's so clear at the moment too.
Water starting to freshen up on the South Coast. Such a fun weekend of waves
Still warmish water in Sydney, though tempered with lots of wind chill. Had a fun 2 hour session yesterday morning up at Wanda. Bit of a wait for the chest high sets but lots of fun.
Incoming swell tomorrow, should be cracking down south
Bower in the morning
How does wink pop in these conditions?
working in bega next two days, hoping to score something in the area in the morning!
Surfed the bar on sunrise this morning and got some absolute beauties. Was a bit inconsistent and small as the swell is pretty much east and not quite getting all the way in. Nonetheless, stroked into a few sets. The old fellas were on it by 7:30 so I got one all the way to the beach and that was it. Very chilly!
check out the Moruya cam, the mouth is pumping!
Had a pretty busy day, checked it in the morning looked to be pumping but closing out on the bigger ones. Haven't looked this morning, don't want to I think it would be perfect size today
Oh no..... It's an E-E-E-ECL Forming next Friday due west of the North Island and holding pretty stationary. The other rivermouth might be on next weekend. First genuine ECL of the winter really.
I should really get down to Saltwater but I might be a bit out of my league down there
Beautiful day at the Golf Course yesterday. 2hrs longboarding (only bout 10 out) followed by 1hr bodyboarding crystals in mid winter sunshine.
A certain little rivermouth south of the bay has bulit up some very nice sand too apparently.....
Is this happening?
I'd reckon ....
I'll third that it's happening
BoM have updated their tide viewer, almost looks modern now
Cronulla update. After 4 weeks of atrocious close out banks there is signs of gutters and rips developing. The last 4 days have been fun with 3 to 4ft peaks around the Wanda and Hills area.Hopefully the banks keep improving.
The anticipated giant S swell arrived overnight. Solid sets this morning in the 3 x overhead range, not many places handling it on the northern beaches.
Still solid, raw and basically out of control this morning in the 6-8ft+ range on the nthn beaches.
Got some pics from yesterday and today that I'll be putting up soon.....
I left the dog at home and took the Camry (cough cough, hey it's my Nascar ) for a day trip on Saturday. Went to standard rivermouth haunt, blown out mess but on reflection the inside was surfable with some persistance. Anyway went looking for something better, after approx 150km of up and down, including a 45 minute walk so a secluded nook that had potential but massive sidewash from the bay breakers, came back to the rivermouth just after 4pm for for 3 average rides and probably 50 duckdives .... Probably the closest I got to suiting up other than the rivermouth was Kioloa boat ramp, but there was no-one out and I hadn't surfed there before so with the amount of water moving figured better to walk away safely.
Only took photos of the 'nook', might try and get some up tonight.
I've seen Kioloa boat ramp breaking with people out Belly but it didn't look like much quality, especially in comparison to other nearby spots. Was GT's heavy?
I used to live at Moruya Heads.. Fond memories of grabbing the board, nicking mums car and heading out for a surf before school !! If only I could have kept my own car in one piece I could have had more time out there
One of the better, bomb sets hitting the point properly on Sunday morning:
I didn't drive out to the points but did see them from the beach down the road, looked bretty heavy but windswept and no one out.
A few more from Saturday & Sunday morning:
Those bomb set rights off the point would have been easily 12ft+ face
Nice pics 4square. Was cleaner at DY point on Saturday, messier yesterday.
I saw it on Saturday morning around 8:30-9:30 and it was cleaner but massive and didn't seem to be handling it too well on the low. But I did hear a few more braved it from mid morning onwards once the tide started to come in.....
Sunday morning about 8:30-9:30 it seemed like there were more makeable ones in the mix, but you still had to wear a few bombs on the head. 2 guys tried to paddle out - 1 got out and the other decided not to.
This is pretty sad
Two rescued, third person still missing off Cape Byron
Surf Life Saving Far North Coast Duty Officer Jimmy Keogh said two companions of the 19-year-old man, who entered the water at Tallow Beach to go surfing at about 10.35 am, had been rescued successfully but their friend remains missing.
And this is just stupid
Shocked witnesses saw surfer disappear
Ms Reid, who grew up playing along the Byron coastline, said it was a very dangerous day.
"There's no way in the world any person from Byron Bay would have entered the water anywhere along Tallows yesterday," she said.
How big did it get up there PM? Was pretty solid down here....
I didn't get to much of a look, my back was giving me grief late last week and been trying to shake a cold. That said i would have got out if there was anything decent but the big south swells are generally shit up here, just big fat rollers.
And here's the only wave I saw surfed on Saturday morning to show the size:
Surely Lennox would have been on the pump but I'm guessing one of the only spots working so pretty crowded......?
Yeah lennox was breaking and it is fun when its big but again just big fat wide rollers, it can stand up on the take off but needs east in the swell to be good.
Not sure when this was but a fun little wave down my way.
AP @ JB?
Nah South , there's another near this one that's heavier again IMO.
Btw both are out of my league these days....
I'm with you! Way heavy.
Know exactly where this spot is and won't be mentioning any names or location details for fear of retribution!
It is one very heavy wave that only breaks when the swell is E to NE (which in general for this area is rare especially at size).
Maroubra look pretty good this morning, chest to head high with a but of punch. Though the weekend's swell has messed a bit with the sandbanks.
The kids in the vid are only 16 or so.
South swell magnets - I know the Hunter rules in this respect but so impressed by Lake Tabourie on the weekend, genuine 2 footers all weekend. Took the Monday off and enjoyed super clean peaks for one hour with 3 others, I'd been hanging for a good session too, good times - no photos sorry
there was 2ft wind swell (surfed) on lake jindabyne this week.
2-3 foot at Bondi. Fat and not great.
This weekend looking good - don't want to jinx but been on a board every weekend since Queens Birthday
oh to ski or surf this weekend, tough decision!
Boys just playing around here OMG....
