Long long way out not a prediction @ this point. EC ens c weeklies had a -IOD induced flavor about it for wk2 in August.

This discussion really needs to be short circuited from this thread....... BUT.....

Whether or not somebody enjoys test cricket is purely subjective but it's an undeniable statement of fact that infinitely more happens in a game of test cricket than any other ball sport on the planet.
There are over 2000 individual contests of technique and mental application between bowler and batsman in a game of test cricket.
Even in the shortest of test matches, there will be in excess of 1000 of these individual bat and ball contests.

The average for a game of baseball is 300.

But yeah, each to their own and all that and we should defs move on from polluting this thread!

Indeed talking cricket on a alpine snow thread is borderline certifiable crazy back @ ya.

cute story.
Lets bore the topic even further with some boring high level stats, good stuff Kingy.

We can move this if you want but im not all that interested in discussing much further because its irrelevant.
But if you want to try use stats, a typical baseball game goes for 3 hours, and at 300 mental episodes that's about 100 per hour on average.
Test match cricket goes for 5 days, say 8 hours playing time that's 40 hours vs 2000 mental episodes which equals 50 per hour, so based of your stats cricket is 50% slower than baseball.

Charts starting to signal some decent long range winter weather, for a change now.
Whole GFS 00z run is looking particularly snowy.
Unfortunately it's also looking particularly wet too.
The ghost of 2016? Oh well I've got ten odd days off between now and 16th August. Should manage a few good days in that period.

Rainy

Rainy start and snowy finish is the correct order. Requirement 2 is more snow than rain to ensure the base holds or builds some.
I prefer my snow systems to start and finish with snow, but each to their own..?

Gotta be careful what we wish for because as you point out 2016 was a doozy... and unfortunately we're heading for that territory.
Just saying.

Case in point.
Long Range so take with a grain of Salt but it's the climate driver outlook that's not looking great and has slipped south in the last few weeks.
Lets hope not:

Weatherzone and YR suggestion Monday good for 20cm potentially, thoughts ?
Weatherzone App is currently forecasting 10-20mm precipitation and (1C Max , -4C Min) for next week Thursday 4 August at Perisher Valley. With -1C Max to 1C Max temps from 2-8 August inclusive, and some snow every day during that period.

So if that holds, things are looking good for snow sports and the school kids snow trips/lessons during that period at least, as long as it is not too windy!
