Have brewed beer. Always brewing beer. Not a snowflakes chance in Australia that I’ll be serving at this thing though. Would go very much unappreciated.

Dislike. Surprised to see the damage after only 30mm? Guess it was pretty warm beforehand. A deep freeze would be exceptionally handy at this point

Still a bit of potential for a decent clipper on EC.

That mountain range is 2000m A.S.L at the same latitude as the Barrington Tops in NSW or the Southern part of the Darling Range in WA near Perth.

    You'd be surprised.
Models are having a hard time with it. Perhaps 10cm behind some wet stuff.
Cold air is on board but drying out on the tail-end.
    New prediction thread is up.

it's not going to get any worse than it is. late month could yield some late action.

meanwhile, a saturday drive down for a sunday/monday ski is a live option. bom is not excited though

next yr.no update will be either a downgrade to a dusting or holding steady with some hope yet.

I assume it's dust not fire blotting today's morning sky on the NSW coast?

Dust is typically wind driven, haven't had alot of that in the last 72. I'd say metro smog looking at the streamlines, but that'll depend on where you are.
Eastern subs of Sydney appears like smog to me.

    Yeah its smoke I think.
    Feels like spring burning off.

The twilight last night was long. The haze being so thick.

RFS shows nothing of significance. guess it's smog wafting down from the big smoke

Different sort of light in Canberra to like slightly hazy I think it may be dust in the atmosphere cause of the drought it as opposed to smoke.

ENSO shaping up as battle between warm neutral and a weak El Nino. The Canadians have reversed course and are now the first model to show no El Nino later this year. They were the first model to suggest El Nino and are now the first to back off. BOM is still hard in, but all models suggest only a weak El Nino at most.

2000m - I wish! The highest the Darling Range (scarp really) gets is 582m at Mt Cooke. Bluff Knoll in the Stirling Range is the highest point in the south-west at 1099m, and the only place to regularly get snow.

Winter is winding up fast here in Cenco City. The Umina Beach weather station hit 33c yesterday arvo. Back to 20c today but with no more trips planned this season, the mind is looking towards summer.

Got a big boys weekend at Newy races Saturday and then a night out on the town so if any of the local Novocastrians have any suggestions for some good local entertainment, please let me know? OR if there are any venues to avoid, PM me, as rumour has it that Newy can be a bit rough?

19th looking little more than clipper with possibly a dusting now.

Meanwhile GFS unloads with the motherload system ~25th on the this morning's 18z run. Not worth a pinch of dog poop though as it lacks trend, progression and support from other models (for now). Hope-casting at it finest.LOL:crap:

Actually, I remarked I was all for the last 10 days of SEP.
I am not gonna lie; it looks really tricky for the next 10 days or so. Lots of divergence, messy scenarios. No model has much trend beyond 5-7 days at the moment. The NH tropics is ablaze.

Might be a buzzer beater yet:
