I noticed that too. There's a good chance August will be colder than July this year. That doesn't happen very often.

I am seeing a number of WA peakers through the 14-18th period as a result of diving LWT in the bight.
I think we may see a change through the SE around the 19th, but looks a bit all over the shop until models settle this weekend IMO.
EC ensembles signalling a change around the 19th but it currently progging a NW'ly moisture feed which wouldn't be favourable.

I was gonna get a 3 day lift pass for perisher starting Saturday. Reckon it'll be too windy for the bulk of the good lifts?

Also wondering about wind? Wanting to do a Sat-Sun strike mission to Thredbo...but if lifts are on hold will be a big waste!

Looking at the Thredbo forecast I would expect all lifts to run except Karels on Saturday due to visibility. But you never know for sure. I'll let you know from Perisher on Sunday.

EC showing a 15th/16th 10cm type of system.

GFS shows a 21st/22nd system, which EPS Control has some degree of agreement upon

With due respect, the only people who know that are your lift operators (Thredbo & Perisher). The call is made case by case. Chairlifts hitting towers is a full shutdown. It only takes a gust or bad direction to achieve that.
Anything over 30 knots sustained wind is getting up there.

Every system we get asked the same thing - No one here should be telling you no, when it could be yes... & Vise versa
    Make your own call.

If I were in your shoes, go anyway. You may find Kosci on hold but dunno they’d shut GB and Kosciusko, on the weekend. They’ll crawler mode it before they close it.

‘I wish I never went for a weekend strike mission to the snow’ said no one ever...

    Well, well, well.
Never seen the b word in reference to The CTs/Blueys.
Sounds like someone had to dig up the Blizzard warnings from the 20th century, at NSW BoM.

I asked the question on BOM FB when they posted the vid last night .
Linked me straight thru to messenger and they got back to me mid- day ish.
Really good work from the BOM to respond to a punter.
Great to feel an element of some small degree of inclusiveness i.e they are listening.

And I'll bet you there's a number who read (probably even contribute) to these forums.
Not sure what their motive was earlier in the week though.

    yeah.
    Had me puzzled a tad.
Thinking their default was always side of caution. Not this time tho….
I mentioned the bc and other peeps " not so up to speed " with the models in my feedback.

I saw someone asking on Sunday via FB Splitboarders Group for comrades to travel BC this weekend. I suggested within minutes of him posting he ortta cancel plans and his call out.
Some people don't even think WX until they've planned their trip, then they go cause they've already committed in their head. Not even with 6 days notice!?

It is a scary part of the evolution of the sport and lifestyle.
    Into the side-country = backcountry.
I fear ambition / insta froth etc may lead to misadventure , lets just say.
Many of us here have done all the necessary background yards.
Plenty of others tho may not realise the consequence of their choices / decisions.
Any one reading this that may be even a tad unsure about conditions and their preparation , ability & most important their resources when it goes to shit...
If you are not sure , don't go.
    Please.

The Toll rescue chopper has FB posted at least two rescue/retrieval trips from Blue Lake this winter. Dunno whether sliders or climbers. So there's always a chopper on hand an hour away to bail you out...until there ain't.

I predict SES is going to be extremely busy up here in the Dandenongs the next few days. Snow would be nice but could be trouble. Last time we played in the snow on Olinda footy oval was over 10 years ago.

The new Olinda common/play space (old golf course) would be a great spot if snow settles.
I’m more interested in the logistics of getting to Jindabyne Sunday morning LOL. Supposed to work until 9:30 Saturday eve, might have to have a sickie. Looks like thunder storms and crazy weather for eastern suburbs sat late arvo and into the evening.
