Does anyone know the best wireless broadband for the Falls Creek area? I know Telstra works there pretty good but any other companies??

Likewise, I was thinking of getting a Vodafone usb modem and was wanting to know if it worked in FC. Their coverage map shows that they have 3G coverage but 1st hand experience would be better).

Telstra have 3 towers in Falls Creek
Optus have 1, and will have 2 towers in Falls Creek in the next 2 months
Vodafone have 1 tower in Falls Creek

You get what you pay for, and depends exactly where you are going to use it though! EG: You may be fine with Voda if you are near enough to their tower.

For speed and reliability go with Telstra, just pay a little extra [IMG]

Thanks Skidown. I take it that the VF tower & Optus are both on the Police Station roof and give 3G coverage in the village?

Yes 3G in the Village, I suspect speeds will be slow during peak periods though with all carriers there though! So don't expect super fast speeds on weekends and evenings.

The current Optus tower is located on the Oversnow Building
The new Optus tower will be near the Ski patrol building higher up the mountain to give better coverage to the ski lift/run area

Voda tower is located on the top of Koki snowsports next to Attunga from memory.

    Telstra towers are located on:
    Nissen Hut 1 Village Bowl
    Corner Alberg/Telemark St
    Falls Creek Ski Patrol Building

We were there in summer and have Optus wireless. No problems at all using it from Les Chalet - full coverage.
