What was the one bit of new kit that was your best for 2020? Mine was a Mont Bell Thermawrap Guide Jacket, waterproof and breathable, synthetic fill, great cut, good features and excellent hood. It’s been used heaps, even this evening in the cool mizzle on the last day of the year. https://montbelloutdoor.com.au/products/us-thermawrap-guide-mens
Tecnica Zero G Tour Pro. Such win. Put them on one morning in Chamonix, heat moulded but no break in, straight in to a reasonable size tour, jokes that I might last 20 minutes, ended up doing the full 700m hike no issues and skied the best line I’ve skied in about 5 years.
I am a big fan of my PAS by Metolius. Am also enamoured of the ‘panic draw’ by Kong, which I have on order. Thanks to @Untele-whippet for the heads up on both of these PAS Panic
My Montbell down pantaloons are soo good. Not only do they function brilliantly but they're perfect for swanning around in.
Was it this year or last?? Macpac Pisa top, even if it was last years I'd buy it again. 2020 has been a bit of a blur This year tho the S2S Traveller 2 in the Large size
Montbell do some really nice stuff and now have a reasonable shop in Kent Street, Sydney. +0.95 (Mk III) picked up a great lightweight down parka (Plasma Down 1000 Down Jacket) that she wears under her shell on colder days (was perfect in Zermatt).
Feathered Friends Flicker UL 20 Hybrid Quilt sleeping bag A versatile piece of kit. I think the 20 Fahrenheit is conservative. Had one very misty night with no breeze that resulted in lots of tent condensation. The bag kept pushing the sides and getting wet ( flatter spot would have helped) but no penetration ( keep your innuendos to yourselves ). Love the centre zip that never gets stuck.. Works well as a quilt option for 2 people when its not really cold. Outer layer is Pertex Endurance fabric 20 by 20 Denier 10K Hydro. 715 grams .
Yes, they make nice gear. I like how long the sleeves are My personal fav bit of gear is currently the Black alien. Usually it's just a pschological prop for ground-up fun!
I bought a pretty sweet spork which i subsequently left at home so i used a plastic cafe fork and spoon. My disappointment was immense.
It’s a really stiff dogbone with a ‘biner that you can ‘click’ the gate open on. So you can lock open the gate, swing the stiff dogbone, and clip that reachy ringbolt. When you weight the draw the gate shuts.
430ish grams, $360ish Check out terrarosagear.com And I got a 3 season quilt and a Tyvek Sleeping cover.
